GoldenRetrieverTrainingTips.Net
Episode 4: How to Develop a Smart Golden Retriever
Hello and welcome to a new Episode from GoldenRetrieverTrainingTips.Net
Today we are going to talk about: How to Develop a Smart Golden Retriever
Golden retrievers are one of the most adorable dogs that you might ever come across. However, training golden retrievers can be a little more difficult than their counterparts because goldie’s are quite sensitive towards ill treatment, and can stop responding to all your commands if they are hurt.
Therefore, you need to be very careful and patient while training your golden retriever and you can find the smartest little pet that you have ever had.
You can start with the behavior training of the pet. This is a part of general training that deals with the interactive skills of the dog with people, as well as with other animals. It also involves training the dog to be comfortable even with the leash and walk with the owner wherever he goes.
It is advisable to conduct the behavior training through reward methods, keeping in mind the sensitivity of the breed.
Once your goldie has learned the basics of behaving himself, you can train him to understand and respond to specific commands such as ‘sit, ‘stand’, ‘come’, ‘go’ and ‘fetch’. This kind of obedience training will tell him that you are the boss and he will learn to obey.
Golden Retrievers are very attentive and they listen to everything you say. They will obey you, if your commands are loud and clear. When your goldie has established itself as an obedient pet, you can move to training him for specific activities such as getting newspapers, bringing over items, walking small kids or even participating in rescue missions. Golden retrievers have long been used for these tasks as they have a proven span of attention, as well as sense of loyalty, in addition to their sharp intelligence.
Golden retrievers are very smart dogs and often look upon the owners as teachers and pay attention to what they say. A little planning and systematic approach to training can sharpen the smartness of your pet. Make sure, you are authoritative and you get your point across in a simple and uncomplicated manner.
If you lack basic teaching skills, it is advisable to take your goldie to a professional trainer rather than wasting your time and spoiling the relationship with your pet.
To know more about Golden Retriever Training visit GoldenRetrieverTrainingTips.Net
I hope you have enjoyed this episode and stay tuned for more to come
