3. 1. GENERAL VIEW OF THE AMERICAN
ECONOMY
GDP = Gross Domestic Product
GDP is an economical touchstone
Steep fall in the third quarter of 2008
The third quarter of 2009 GDP again positif
Keep on raising but now there’s a small fall
5. 2. UNEMPLOYMENT
Almost 15 million Americans out of work
More employers cutting jobs
More seasonal employees ( less certainty)
151.000 new jobs created almost double than
expected ( first increase since may)
Government cuts jobs (8.000)
Private sector creates jobs
7. 3. THE RETAIL MARKET
A lack of job growth
hurdles for retailers
Focus on paying down debt
A lack of confidence and spending
Inflation of costumers prices rose with 0,2 %
Business investment rose with 0,5 % ( highest in 2 years)
Car purchase higher than expected
retail market start to raise again
8. 4. CURRENCY
Less export
The Australian dollar almost more worth than a
American dollar ( Australia's mineral wealth and
connections to the Asian boom)
Shares start to raise again hopefully the American
dollar will follow
9. 5. CONCLUSION
After a steep fall in 2008- 2009 everything is
recovering and raising again
Exept the dollar ( bad currency)
Lack of confidence will disappear and the retail
market is raising
Private sector creates jobs but the unemployment
keeps raising
