2. • 1. Floss before you brush! It’s actually better
to floss your teeth before you brush them.
That way, the toothpaste can get in-between
your teeth better and kill more germs that the
floss might have missed.
3. • 2. Floss is usually made from nylon filaments
or plastic monofilaments. It may be treated
with flavoring agents, such as mint, to make
flossing more pleasant tastes.
4. • 3. People who drink 3 or more glasses of soda
each day have over 65% more tooth decay,
fillings and tooth loss than others. That’s why
we always recommend water as the best drink
for your teeth.
5. • 4. You should replace your toothbrush at least
once every three months and every time after
a period of sickness.
6. • 5. Electric toothbrushes generally do a better
cleaning job than standard toothbrushes. The
vibrations allow for many more quick strokes
that clean more areas that would normally be
missed with normal brushing motions with a
standard brush.
7. • 6. Tooth enamel is actually the hardest
substance in the human body.
8. • 7. According to a recent survey done by Time
Magazine, 59% of Americans would rather
have a dental appointment than be sitting
next to someone talking on a cell phone…hint-
hint.
9. • 8. Over 75% people in the United States suffer
from some form of gum disease. It is the
leading cause of tooth loss in people over age
35. Fortunately, gum disease can be
prevented or controlled in most cases.
10. • 9. Don’t Rinse Your Mouth Out After Brushing
Your Teeth
“Rinsing washes away the protective fluoride
coating left by the toothpaste, which would
otherwise add hours of protection.” If you are
thirsty drink a glass of water before brushing
your teeth!
11. • 10. The cheapest and strongest dental filling
material for cavities is silver, also called dental
amalgam. This material is known to contain
mercury, which is toxic to humans if exposed
to in large enough quantities.
