Local Search Tips - Do I Require A Website?

There are millions of websites on the internet today. Some represent huge businesses and
many of them represent small businesses. It's a literal plethora of spots that you can visit all
throughout the web. But as amazing as it might seem not every small company has a web
site. And with local search accounting for almost 20 % of all searches happening each day
the question is, does your small company require a website to benefit from local search? Of
the many local search tips you may see this is a crucial one. Due to the fact that the answer
is no. You do not need a site to benefit from local search. Is it far better to have a website.
Yes of course it is but it is not important.

If you're speculating precisely how you can easily benefit even if you don't have a website
you have to understand the nature of local search. Local search starts first and foremost with
geography. If an individual in Los Angeles for example wants to find a local auto repair shop
and they do a search through Google or another major search engine they're going to get a
map when the search results appear. That map will feature results that show businesses
near them. It won't show results from car repair shops found in New York. And the results
shown are based on business place and just how close they are to the person carrying out
the search.

The key though is for the search engines to recognize you exist. A website assists but of
more importance is claiming your listing in the big search engines and directory sites on the
internet. With Google you can claim your Google Places listing. That means submitting
company data such as the name you operate under, a summary and most importantly a
physical address and phone number. Not a P.O. Box. An actual location where individuals
can easily come see you. It's the address that will help Google, Yahoo, or Bing identify
whether your company might be pertinent to the search being done.

If you do not have a website local search is able to still aid you. However you have to tell the
search engines and business directories who and where you are. Since without a site as a
beginning point they don't understand you even exist. If you don't have a website though you
must consider placing at least a standard one up. Consider a website like an online billboard
for your company. You can easily put down your location, services or products provided, hrs
of operation, contact details, and payment methods accepted at the very least. The more you
can tell people regarding yourself the more likely they are to pay a visit to you. And with all
the different site templates available and economical hosting services it can be an incredibly
cost-effective thing to do.

So your local search tip for today is no you do not require a site to benefit from local search.
But it definitely would be better for your company to have one.
