1. In what ways does your media
product use, develop or challenge
forms and conventions of real media
products?
2. Frame-1
• Frame 1- In my first frame it a close up of a
mobile phone. I have used a close up to show the
importance in the film. It show that he does have
contact with other people. The phone i have used
is new and modern so that people will under
stand what type of year my film is in. The phone
name on the phone is "wifey" showing that he is
married or getting married and we can see a
picture of her so we know just a little bit about it.
We can see that the battery is getting low
showing the audience he is going to loose contact
with people soon.
3. Frame-2
Frame 2- In this frame you see the character for the
first time. I have used a long shot so that we can see
his whole body and we can see a little of the
setting. The character has his hands in his pocket,
this shows that he is comfortable in his surrounding
and he is worried about much or what coming up
ahead. The character is in dark clothes this shows
that he might be the antagonist but in actually fact
he is the protagonist and this has the confused
effect on the audience because normally the
antagonist is normal in light colored clothes to show
that they are pure and innocent.
4. Frame-3
In frame 3 I have used a close up of both character
the protagonist and antagonist. We can see the
antagonist in the background and that the
antagonist is just standing their behind him not
even moving. You cannot see his facial expression of
him so that leaves the guessing if he like killing for
fun or he is looking for revenge. The protagonist has
his faced turned to the facing him.
5. Frame-4
Frame 4- In this frame I have use a zoom shot/
Medium shot on the character. I have done this to
show the emotions on his face and it makes the
audience feel on edge because he was so calm at the
begging and now he is feeling scared. This suits the
horror genre in the way that he is all alone and the
Mise en scene is dark which suits the horror genre.
6. Frame-5
Frame 5- I have used a Long shot again to update the
audience where he is now. His face expression shows
that he is slightly curious about his surroundings. The
setting you can see in the background is a park this is
used because its dark and he is all alone showing he is
vulnerable. This type of shot is used in other horrors
to represent that someone is watching them and
foreshadowing that something is going to happen
between them.
7. Frame-6
Frame 6- In this frame there is a long shot of him on
the bench realizing that his battery is flat. I have
used this because the audience has a growing
concern for him because he now has no contact if
he comes into trouble. We can also see the Mise en
scene some more and this time we see very dark
bushes and trees in the back ground making. This
type of scene that I have used suits the genre I have
chosen because it is dark and you would suspect
this film is a horror.
8. Frame-7
Frame 7- This frame shows the title which is "The
Unknown“ I have used the title unknown because it
makes the viewer want to carry on and watch the
rest of the film because they want to find out what
the unknown is. I also used this so show that the
opening was over. Having this title come up after
about 2 minutes also indicates that the last couple
of minutes so they don’t get confused about what
was going on. The white font stands out on the
black, This is a typical conventions of horror films.
9. Frame-8
Frame 8- In this frame I have used a reverse shot
because to shows that the protagonist is un aware
of what dangers lay behind him and shows what
the antagonist is and what he's about.
In this frame it is the first time that we see the
antagonist. In this frame the protagonist is still
showing h only moves out of sight giving his
character . He is dressed in white which shows that
he may have only just started his killings and
maybe this is his only kill.
10. Frame-9
Frame 9- In this frame it is my production logo. The
logo symbolizes that the film is going to be a horror,
I have used pictures to indicate this. It also shows
that who sponsored my film and who the
production company is. My logo is conventional to
my genre because it has scary image and has
writing that suits the horror genre.
