  • 2. President, Global Manufacturingand Supply at GlaxoSmithKlineFor 10 years, Dr. David Pulman wasPresident of Global Manufacturingand Supply (GMS) forGlaxoSmithKline (GSK). Thedimensions of his responsibilitiesincluded manufacturing operations in79 factories situated in 40 countries,manufacturing strategy, procurement,externalsupply and supply chainlogistics, and new productlaunch and industrialisation.GMS had a world-wideworkforce of 25,000 and acost base of c. £4.5bn($7bn).
  • 3. Key achievements included improving Quality,Environmental, Health & Safety performance (thefundamentals), productivity improvements of c 55%, theestablishment of a Lean Sigma culture and a move intomore advanced manufacturing technologies. Thefoundation of operating performance was the absolutebelief in technical excellence, development of bothindividual, team and organisational capability and ethicaldecision making based on a strong value set.
  • 4. Other career highlights included the integration ofmanufacturing operations between Glaxo and Wellcome,when GW was established, and coordinating theestablishment of International Commercial Operations atthe formation of GSK, being a member of the merger team.
