Ford Mondeo 1.8 TDCi Engine Problems
Over the time, Ford Mondeo 1.8 Engine has been reported of several problems which different
owners came across time to time. Some of those problems and their respective solutions are:
Problem: Engine lack of power, rough idling and hard to start
Solution: Any of these problems may result due to insufficient signal from the camshaft
position sensor. To amplify the signals from 5 volts to 12 volts from the sensors, it is
recommended to install a revised wiring harness or sensor.
Problem: Engine hard to start, loss of power or
knock
Solution: Any of these problems may occur when
the crankshaft vibration damper turn on the crankshaft
due to the insufficient retention friction. This can be
taken care of by fitting in a new vibration damper bolt
and a friction washer.
Problem: Rough or/and high idle
Solution: This problem may occur by a broken idle lever return spring which was due to high
duty cycle of the idle speed control motor. Just simply fit in a revised idle repair kit with a
modified idle spring and the problem is fixed.
