Sydney Tower) is Sydney's tallest
free standing structure. It was built
in 1975 and was Finished in 1981. It
cost 36 million and stands at 309
meters high. The viewing platform is
the highest in the southern
hemisphere. It attracts Tens of
thousands of visitors each year, and
is Sydney's biggest tourist attraction.

The great barrier reef is a world heritage listed,
renowned land mark. It is located in north eastern
Australia. It can be seen in red on the map below.
The great barrier reef is one of the seven wonders of
the natural world. It is huge! So huge, that it
can be seen from space.
It contains the worlds largest collection of coral
reefs, with 400 species of coral, 1500 species of
fish and over 4000 types of mollusc! (animals
which do not have a backbone such as snails and
octopus). It contains animals such as the dugong
and the large green sea turtle.

to Australia because of its natural beauty and
the habitat it provides to all the species of

The Sydney Opera House
The Sydney Opera house is famous around the
world for its incredible design and
architecture. It was designed by a Danish
designer, Jørn Utzon. He won the
international competition for an opera house
in Bennelong Point, Sydney. It is also
renowned across the world for its
performances, internationally acclaimed
performers perform there throughout the year.
The Opera House is sometimes lit up for
special occasions – like this!

Federal Parliament
until 1988 (When the
new parliament house was
built). It was home to many

war against Japan in 1941

The Sydney Harbour Bridge is
one of the most famous and
significant landmarks in Australia. The
Bridge took just over 9 years to build. It
is the 5th longest spanning arch bridge
in the world. The Sydney Harbour
Bridge carries 8 lanes of traffic and 2
train lines – carrying passengers to the
other side of Sydney.

Sydney Harbour Bridge is a huge icon of
Australia! Every New Years Eve the bridge is
lit up and fireworks shoot out – it’s a sight that
the whole world loves and many people come down
to see the fireworks at midnight. People also climb
