1. Newest Planning Design
We have decided to completely reconsider our CD cover. This is because all our
products must be for the same thing and therefore we have to reconsider what we are
doing.
Before, our planning was going to feature two faces looking at each other with a title
located in the top left hand corner. We are going to redesign our cover completely.
Our new cover will feature the same cartoonish house style that is aimed at the
teenage target group. This is going to have a relatively simplistic style with few
images as they will be more effective than having an overly complicated front cover
that would just appear confusing.
One popular image that represented a whole period of time is the Volkswagen
Camper Van. This used to feature heavily in Britain a few decades ago. We have
decided to use this as part of our CD cover because it will be known to all generations
no matter how old they are. Also it is an image that can be easily stylised with Adobe
Photoshop Pro. This is shown below:
We started off with a basic
image of a VW van, and then
we used the basic shape of
that in order to help create
our own image.
So in the end we ended up
with a purple VW van that
was our own and we could
use in our product.
2. This van design then will feature on our CD cover as if it is driving down a very
simple grey road that will help our CD image look like it is going somewhere and has
distinct purpose.
This will feature on a dark background colour that will help to emphasise and stylise
any images that are present with it.
Title
Our title needs to stand out of the page above all else. This is why we are going to do
it in white on a black background. Also we’re going to have the ‘M’ in the word
Slimist in bright red. This will help potential customers to see a central point on the
CD cover and focus on that.
Also to help to create a positive image we’re going to have the red ‘m’ with wings
coming out of it. This will also add more style to the CD cover and make it appear
more professional as, even though its still cartoony, and will add some required
complexity to our cover.
Images
Also we are going to have one stylised image of a random animal to help fit in with
the techno pop conventions of random images and styling. We have decided that this
is going to be a lizard as this is going to be completely unexpected. To create this
image we will find a photo of a lizard and then use it as a base, like the VW van, and
build on that to create our own image that we can use in our production. To help this
fit in with our house style we are going to add a jacket onto the lizard and then show it
with similar wings to the M.
To help add some
complexity to the cover
we’re going to have a very
faint Slimist logo in the
background. We will do this
by grey scaling the main title
image and then fading it into
the background. This helps
to add a professional look as
having a plain black
background would look plain
and boring.
