Arley hall event
1. INTRODUCTION
I will be working as a dresser on the Arley Hall Dance
show on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th February.
The show will run for 2 nights and will be held in 2
rooms. The audience will be split into the 2 rooms and
dances will happen in each room simultaneously. The
sites capacity is 100 people. The concept/theme is “a
professional, site-specific dance event which showcases
the variety of work created by the A Level dancers here
at Priestley College and the venue itself.”
THE ROLE OF A DRESSER
My job will be to complete fast paced costume changes and ensure that costumes are
labelled, kept in good condition and organised according to a running order. I will also have
to manage the costumes throughout the show and make sure that each performer is
correctly dressed so that there are no costume malfunctions on stage.
POTENTIAL EQUIPMENT LIST
Correct costumes
Safety pins
Make up wipes
Copy of the running order
Small sewing kit
WHO AM I IN CHARGE OF?
I will be in charge of the performers when they are changing costume to ensure everything
runs smoothly. I will also need to take along things such as safety pins and a small sewing kit
for costume requirements in case a costume is damaged on stage and needs to be repaired
for the following night or next performance.
2. FLOOR PLAN
QUESTIONS RELATING TO FLOOR PLAN:
1) Where will I be situated?
2) Where will the costumes be kept?
3) Where will the dancers be held?
RUNNING ORDER
3. There is a different running order for each night at Arley Hall, which means I have questions
to consider and find out before the night.
1) Will I be situated in different places both nights?
2) Will I have to place costumes in different places?
WHO IS MY MANAGER?
My manager will be Anna Brown who is the wardrobe mistress for this particular event. She
will instruct me in what to do prior to the event to work out any complications. She will also
be able to answer my questions.
