This document summarizes new prosthetic hands from Otto Bock that feature improved control systems. The DMC Plus allows proportional control of grip speed and force based on muscle signals, and has a safety mode where higher muscle signal is needed to open the hand after gripping. The Digital Twin system provides both digital and double channel control options in one hand. Both systems can be optimized for use with Otto Bock's new lithium-ion battery and have automatic controls and safety features. The document provides product codes and technical specifications for the DMC Plus and Digital Twin hands.
2. DMC plus/Digital Twin
Every DMC Plus and Digital Twin Hand is equipped with automatic
electronics, an integrated on/off switch, energy-efficient bevel gear,
positive back lock, and a System Inner Hand.
An intelligent "battery manager" alerts the patient when the voltage
is low: The System Electric Hand slows down, and the gripping
force decreases. At the same time the battery is protected against
harmful total discharge.
DMC Plus Hands and Digital Twin Hands can be optimized for
use with the 757B20 Li-Ion Energypack.

Two independent systems precisely control the grip speed and
grip force of the hand in proportion to the strength of the mus-
cle signal. The gripping process is much more natural, and it is
easier to gently grip small or fragile objects. The prosthetist may
choose from two different control modes by inserting or removing
a function plug:
DMC Mode: Proportional control of grip speed and grip force.
DMC Plus Mode: Proportional control of grip speed and grip force.
After gripping once with maximum force, a slightly higher EMG
signal is required to open the hand. This reduces the chances of
the hand opening due to unintentional muscle contraction.

The Digital Twin Control system provides both a digital control
mode (dual site) and a double channel control mode (single site)
in the same terminal device. The prosthetist decides whether to
use 1 or 2 electrodes to control the prosthesis. The desired control
mode is selected by inserting or removing a function plug.
