This document discusses three types of power semiconductor switches: GTO (Gate Turn Off Thyristor), GATT (Gate Assisted Turn Off Thyristor), and SSS (Silicon Symmetrical Switch). It notes that GTOs can be turned on and off but require large gate currents, GATTs can turn off with lower gate currents than GTOs, and SSSs operate like MOSFETs but can handle higher voltages than existing MOSFETs.
