Evaluation - Question Three
1. What kind of
media institution
might distribute
your media
product and why?
2. A real production/distribution
company
In the UK, Metrodome could distribute
our thriller. They can distribute our
thriller via the microwave scheme. The
microwave scheme offers support for
films to be made in 18 days and within a
budget of less than £100,000. This
would be appropriate for my thriller as
they would be distributing a small scaled
British film.
3. How will your film be
viewed?
Our film could be viewed via Cinema, Internet,
DVD, Television, or YouTube. However for
us, it would more suitable to use Viral
Marketing. This is because our thriller is
unknown, so in order to get people to watch
we must send out an email to everyone
telling them to watch our thriller. They can
then pass the link onto friends or family,
which will make the popularity and views of
our thriller increase.
4. What are your reasons for
distributing your film by these
methods?
We have decided to distribute our film via viral
marketing because we don’t have enough money to get
our thriller distributed by large production companies
such as Film Four. Also, viral marketing is very
effective nowadays because people spend a lot of time
on social networking sites such as
Facebook/Twitter/YouTube etc, so we can post our
thriller on there and tell people to watch it. Finally, our
thriller is a small scale British film so not many people
will have heard of it. Therefore, viral marketing is the
best method to get our target audience to watch the
thriller.
5. Comparing our thriller to real
films
I would compare our thriller to
Shifty. Shifty was also
distributed by Metrodome
via the microwave scheme, in
2008. It is also aimed at
teenagers, just how our
thriller is.
