Exercise For Face & Neck Muscles: How Does It Work? Exercise for face muscles is a practice largely over looked. You may not think of it as a muscular body part, but there are 57 muscles to be found in your face and neck.
Facial exercise focuses on improving two elements which affect the way we look. Muscle fibre Elastic fibre It is the wasting of the muscle as we age, which starts to make our faces appear loose and sagging. Another culprit is a sluggish circulation which turns our complexion dull and often dry. Ageing Muscles Lead To Sagging Skin
Exercise for face and neck muscles improves the blood flow, increasing the amount of nutrients and oxygen brought to the muscles and the skin. It is the increase in these nutrients and oxygen, together with working the muscle which can help reverse muscle wasting. Improve Your Circulation & Work Those Muscles!
The action of exercising your muscles also pumps the lymphatic system, which cannot circulate of its own accord. By stimulating the lymph, you are enabling good drainage of waste products  to clear the skin as well as reduce puffiness.
Elastic fibres, as the name suggests, allow tissue to stretch and are found outside the muscle fibres. They are very delicate and damage caused through chemical exposure such as smoking or too much sun makes them rigid and prone to breaking. Elastic Fibres Accentuate Toned Muscles
Luckily these are continually being replaced by the body producing proteins which form the elastic fibres. These new fibres then take on the shape around them i.e. the muscle fibres. This is fine when we are younger, as our muscles are toned and in good shape, but as we age, these muscles become loose and atrophy, or shrink. The new fibres take on the form of the shrinking, sagging muscle and so you begin to develop a sagging, loose looking face.
This is why exercising the muscles of your face can have such a profound effect! The more you work and build up the underlying muscle structure of your face, the more the new elastic fibres will enhance them, creating the perfect base for smoother, tighter looking skin. Facial Exercise To The Rescue!
And because this is an on going process, you will see your face look better and better as newer elastic fibres get an increasingly firmer muscle structure form to take on.
