 Since 2006, Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal has
owned GD Management, an asset management
company with hotel holdings in Colorado. Also the
chief executive officer of Grupo Denim, Salomon Juan
Marcos Villarreal comes from a family with decades of
experience in Mexico’s textile industry.
A leader in textile and apparel production, Mexico
receives textiles and fibers from producers in the
United States and then exports the finished apparel.
Mexico continues to be one of the most important
textile trade partners with the United States, having
received 39 percent of all technical textile exports
from the United States in 2015.

 The apparel and textile industry represented 6
percent of Mexico’s gross domestic product and
accounted for nearly 20 percent of the country’s
manufacturing employment in 2013. Although
Mexico has faced stiff competition from Chinese
and other Asian manufacturers in recent years, its
textile manufacturers hope to remain competitive
by capitalizing on their value chains and staying
at the forefront of new designs and technology.
