The reason this system was
developed, in response to the
occurrence of a large
earthquake and tsunami off
Sumatra, has been building a
tsunami warning system for
coastal states and the Indian
Ocean.
When it detects the first
signs of a tsunami, has
become a mechanism to
alert the residents that
may be affected
After tsunami、25 stations were
established the Indian Ocean.
These stations are measured by
indicators such as pressure, has
been designed to detect
earthquakes that cause tsunamis.
Now the tsunami is
detected, the new
information center was
established, which is to be
received and relayed the
warning and evacuation.
Tsunami is not running at that
time none of the system. At that
time if the tsunami occur, it was
not possible to detect it.
Although the tsunami killed
200,000 people, the main
cause is that the system did not
work.
Using a submarine fiber
optic cable, may be able
to detect the tsunami.
The submarine cable
systems that already
exist.
