“I started training with Activation
Fitness in February 2014,
having being introduced through
my employer WorleyParsons.
The CBD location at Flagstaff
Gardens and the “straight
after work” time slot made it so
convenient I felt that this was the
perfect opportunity to improve
my fitness.
I came into Mel’s class having
never done a push up and only
ever having run for a tram.
These past two boot camps have
changed me from someone who
has never enjoyed exercise to
someone who looks forward to
the class every week.
I’ve gotten stronger, faster and
more toned and appreciate Mel’s
ability to scale the difficulty on
the exercises so a complete
novice like me can achieve and
enjoy the workout.
I’m looking forward to continuing
training with Mel and getting
even fitter!”
Amelia, WorleyParsons
Overview
From early February to early April 2015, nine employees from WorleyParsons
and Advisian took part in Activation Fitness’s ‘8 Week Fitness Challenge’, a
corporate boot camp designed to enhance employees health and fitness.
Fitness sessions were held every Monday and Wednesday evening in
Flagstaff Gardens in Melbourne’s CBD.
Sessions were a combination of resistance (body weight & bands), cardio,
circuits, core, boxing and running, which led to improvements in employees
strength, cardiovascular health, speed, agility, flexibility and coordination.
This was the second year the ‘Fitness Challenge’ was held, with the first boot
camp held in early 2014.
Fitness Results
So that participants had a measurable baseline to improve on, and so
that they could track their progress towards their health and fitness goals,
Activation Fitness conducted a fitness assessment during the first session,
with a second fitness assessment conducted during the last session.
Five employees conducted both fitness assessments, with the results
demonstrating a huge increase in fitness. Average fitness improvement
results for each employee were: E1 - 135%, E2 - 97%, E3 - 71%,
E4 - 25%, E5 - 21%.
Benefits to WorleyParsons and Advisian
Building a healthy workplace is not only good for the health of
WorleyParsons and Advisian employees but the health of the business.
In addition to the health and fitness benefits, the corporate boot camp also
enabled staff to engage with colleagues in a fun outdoor environment,
strengthening relationships between WorleyParsons and Advisian.

“I have just finished Mel’s 8 week
challenge and it was so awesome
that I feel compelled to write about it
so others looking can know Activation
Fitness is definitely worth signing up
for!
6 months post-op from a kidney
transplant following dialysis and an
unhealthy lifestyle, I was keen to get
fit and lose weight. Not only did I do
both, I had a wonderful time with many
wonderful people.” Dan
“Melanie is a delightful trainer who pushes you
to achieve your best and take pride in your hard
work.
I completed Activation Fitness’s 12 week challenge
between February and May in 2014, introduced to
the program through my employer, WorleyParsons.
Training straight after work at Flagstaff Gardens
is convenient and allows you to enjoy the fresh air
after a day in the office. Training in a group is an
enjoyable social experience and Melanie’s efforts
to adjust exercises to individual abilities means that
participants also receive one-on-one guidance and
feedback.
At the start of the challenge I was on the rebuild after
surgery for a broken arm. My injury and recovery
process meant that I spent months not being able to
do cardio or weight bearing exercise. Rebuilding from
ground zero was a physical and mental challenge,
and Melanie gave me the boost and confidence
I needed to push through my recovery. Melanie’s
training helped me recover with exercises that were
tailored to my injury. When I started the 12 Week
Challenge in February my muscles were unstable and
tired quickly, particularly during push-ups or squats.
By April I was able to return to my pre-injury activities,
including indoor climbing and even some trapezing.
I loved Melanie’s diverse approach and use of games
that kept me excited and surprised at how much
we had achieved in only one hour. I recommend
Activation Fitness to anyone looking to build their
strength and cardio. Her passion and positive attitude
are inspiring, and her training will have you smiling
and laughing while you get fitter, healthier and
happier.
Thank you Melanie!” Liz, Advisian
“I decided to take part in Activation
Fitness’s 8 Week Challenge because
I wanted the extra motivation gained
by training in a group environment.
Mel helped me by taking the time to
demonstrate the correct/safe way
to do exercises, and corrected bad
habits I’d picked up over the years.
I really liked Mel’s positive and
friendly yet firm and diligent
approach to coaching.
I found the experience great,
particularly as for me it saw me
exercising with my colleagues at
WorleyParsons who I normally only
see in the office.
I would recommend Activation
Fitness to people who need
encouragement and routine in
a comfortable setting.” Brooke,
WorleyParsons
