Upcycle your favorite old t-shirts into a DIY Fashion Scarf with Kiki magazine. In just six easy steps, we will show you how to create your own scarf with your favorite shirts that you've outgrown but can't bring yourself to give away.
2. Step 1
• Decide how wide you want your scarf to be, and add 1-inch to this
measurement.
• Cut your T-Shirts into pieces of this width. Length does not matter.
• Cut out a matching back piece for every front piece, and stack your front
panel pieces and back panel pieces in separate piles.
3. Step 2
• Lay out your front panels in the order you would like them to be appear in
the scarf.
• Take the top two pieces and put them together with the front sides
touching.
• Pin the pieces together and sew them with a ½-inch seam allowance.
4. Step 3
• Take the pins out and open up the two pieces you just sewed.
• Repeat the process of lining up, pining, and sewing until all front panel
pieces are sewn together.
• Repeat this step for the back panel pieces.
5. Step 4
• Lay the front panel on the back panel with the right sides together, and pin
both of the long edges to each other.
• Sew each long edge with a ½-inch seam allowance.
6. Step 5
• Take the pins out and turn the scarf right-side out.
• Lay the scarf flat with the seams at each side, and use a few pins to hold
the layers in place.
• Line the edge of your sewing foot up with the edge of the scarf and sew
around all four edges of the scarf to secure.
7. Step 6
• After the scarf is sewn in place, cute strips of fringe into both ends to
finish!
