I. Video marketing content for you!
You probably already know that YouTube is the 800-pound gorilla of
online video. What you may not know is that YouTube is also the
second-most-used search engine on the planet. Since Google bought
YouTube a few years ago, they now have the #1 and #2 search engines.
Part of what this means is that Google indexes YouTube constantly,
looking for new content. Because of this, using YouTube videos
effectively in marketing can mean some tremendous results for your
business. In other words, Video SEO.
Spiders
Wait, what does “indexing” mean? Well, the search engines have
automated programs called “spiders” whose sole purpose is to crawl

2. around the World Wide Web and report what they find to the search
engines’ massive database, or “index”.
Search EnginesWhen they find new content, they raise a virtual hand,
saying; “Hey, look over here! There’s something new!” Basically, that
content then gets scanned and added to the database. Based on certain
factors, the content will get its importance and relevance ranked in the
search engines’ algorithms to determine where it should show up on the
search engine results pages, which are what you see when you type a
keyword into Google.
The algorithms are top-secret and kept absolutely confidential by the
search engines – it’s the equivalent to Coca-Cola’s secret formula,
except that they are changed frequently in order to keep delivering
quality results to the people using the search engines. But based on our
own testing, Google’s guidelines and the research of others, we’re able
to determine what are some of the key factors that are most important.
So if we understand what the most important components are to rank on
the search engines, we can use that to make sure our video has the best
chance of getting ranked. And, fortunately, we understand this pretty
doggone well. By using a highly optimized video, we’ve been able to
reach page one of Google as quickly as two (2) minutes. Can you think
of a faster way to the top? Neither can we, unless we have a DeLorean
and a flux capacitor (for you “Back to the Future” fans out there).

3. There are a lot of factors that have varying levels of importance, and
naturally we can’t go into all of them in this article, but we will reveal
the top three factors, in order of importance.
1) Title. Your video title MUST have your target keyword in it,
preferably at or near the beginning of the title. But keep your title
relatively short – it’s like the headline of a newspaper article, and needs
to grab the attention of the reader as well as the search engine spiders.
2) Tags. These are basically your list of important keywords. Again,
don’t go overboard, but make sure you use 7-10 or so of these, separated
by commas, with the most important listed first. The great news for you
is that if you understand how to use these properly, you’re a HUGE step
ahead of your competition. Don’t just list individual words, either. Use
phrases. If you’re trying to optimize for “holographic bracelet business
opportunity” use that phrase, not “holographic, bracelet, business,
opportunity”. These more specific phrases are both more focused and
easier to rank for because there’s a lot less competition for “holographic
bracelet business opportunity” than there is for “bracelet” or “business”.
3) Description. This is the body text that describes what your video is
about. In general, a 3-400 word description should include your target
keyword 4-5 times or so – a little more is OK, but don’t resort to
“keyword stuffing” (Google that if you don’t know what it means.)
So there you have the basics of what to include when you upload a video
to YouTube in order to help it rank more highly on the search engines.
Now all you need is the DeLorean.

4. II. Video marketing tips
#1: Take advantage of video’s
branding opportunities
For branding purposes, have your
company logo displayed
prominently somewhere on the
screen. You can do this at all
times, or during key times in your
video.
In the image below, notice how the company logo is displayed in the
upper-left corner. You can display your logo throughout your video or
only at key times.
#2: Include your URL in your video
When you edit your video, take advantage of the different editing
features. One easy feature is to add a text box to your video. This is
where you can display your website address and it’s a great way to get
exposure.
Here’s a screen shot of Mari Smith’s YouTube channel. Notice how she
used a text box in her video to display key information, including her
website URL at the end of her video. Smart move!
#3: Make your title count
Just like a headline to a blog post, video titles can pull powerful traffic.
There are two main reasons why the title is so important. One, a great
title can instantly grab a viewer’s attention.

5. Two, when you use the appropriate keywords in your title, you are more
likely to show up on search engines when people are searching for your
topic. And remember Google owns YouTube, so there’s a story
connection between video and searching.
#4: Provide excellent content
Take some time to think about your ideal viewer. What do you know
that they’ll find valuable? What can you teach them? “How-to” videos
are extremely successful because not only do they offer great value to
your viewer, but also you’re able to showcase your knowledge and skill,
thus positioning yourself as an expert. This is key as you continue to
grow your brand
#5: Always provide an HTML link
When you post on YouTube, you have the option to write a short
description of your video. Always start with the link you want to drive
your viewers to so you don’t miss this key opportunity.
Here’s a snapshot of the description boxes from one of my YouTube
videos. Notice the placement of my website URL (it’s the first thing
you want to put in the box!) and the keywords I used in my title as well
as the description.
#6: Go beyond YouTube
Most people post their videos on YouTube. In addition to this, make
sure to always embed your video on your own website. This will
increase the amount of time people spend on your website and help grow
a captive audience.

6. Also, Google’s algorithms consider how many times a video is viewed,
and embedded video views you receive get added to the ‘views’ tally on
YouTube. This is important for showing up in Google search results!
