Christmas 2010
1. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” Isaiah 9:6. HE SAW A CRADLE.
2. 1. ISAIAH SAW THE CRADLE, CHRISTMAS PAST. “Unto us a child is born.” A. It was a Cradle of Incarnation. “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” John 1:14. When “The Creator” becomes the created! B. It was a Cradle of Intervention. From Adam and Eve, to the wickedness in the days of Noah. From the building of the tower of Babel, to you and me in our sin! God has always had to step in to save mankind.
3. C. It was a Cradle of Inspiration. God sent His Son, the Angels sang. The shepherds marvelled. The wise men searched for the child. And we should be inspired to serve. The real excitement of Christmas comes in being able to give to those who mean so much to you. Unfortunately, our gift list is always so limited, you cannot give to everyone. But God can, and God has, and there's no one who is been left off of His gift list. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” John 3:16.
4. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” Isaiah 9:6. 2. HE SAW A CROSS.
5. 2. ISAIAH SAW THE CROSS, CHRISTMAS PRESENT. “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given.” Not just any son…John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
6. Hebrews 2:9 “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.”
7. The Crown “For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace” Isaiah 9:6. 3. HE SAW A CROWN.
8. The Crown 3. ISAIAH SAW THE CROWN, CHRISTMAS FUTURE. “The government shall be upon His shoulders.” Isaiah saw first: A. A Crown of glory. Not a normal crown, but that Shekinah glory surrounding, much more than a halo, blinding to us as at the transfiguration. We can only imagine! “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” Hebrews 2:9
9. The Crown Without the cradle there would be no cross, and without the cross there would be no crown! Without Christ there would be no salvation. Are you ready for Christmas? Internetpreachersforchrist.co.uk
