1.
2. Angels Rescue Lot
That evening two angels came to the city of Sodom. Lot was sitting near the city gates and saw them.
He got up and went to them. He bowed to show respect.
The angels said to Lot, “We are going to destroy this city. The LORD heard how evil this city is, so he sent
us to destroy it.” When Lot did not move fast enough, the two men grabbed his hand. They also took the
hands of his wife and his two daughters. The two men led Lot and his family safely out of the city.
Os anjos resgatam Ló
Estava anoitecendo quando dois
anjos chegaram a Sodoma. Ló estava
sentado perto do portão de entrada da
cidade. Quando viu os anjos, levantou-
se e foi recebê-los. Eles disseram: Nós
vamos destruir este lugar. O Senhor
3. Jacob’s Dream
Jacob had a dream. He dreamed there was a ladder that was on the ground and reached up into
heaven. He saw the angels of God going up and down the ladder. And then Jacob saw the LORD standing
by the ladder. He said, “I am with you, and I will protect you everywhere you go.
O sonho de Jacó
Jacó sonhou. Ele viu uma
escada que ia da terra até
o céu, e os anjos de Deus
subiam e desciam por ela.
O Senhor Deus estava ao
lado dele e disse: — Eu
estarei com você e o
protegerei em todos os
lugares aonde você for.
4. Balaam and the Angel
Balak, who was king of Moab at that time, sent messengers to summon Balaam. God said to Balaam,
“Do not go with them,” but Balaam went with the Moabite officials. God was very angry when he went,
and the angel of the Lord stood in the road to oppose him. The angel stood in a narrow place where
there was no room to turn, either to the right or to the left.
Balaão, a jumenta e o anjo
O rei Balaque mandou
chamar Balaão. Deus disse a
Balaão: — Não vá com eles,
porem, no dia seguinte Balaão
se aprontou, pôs os arreios na
sua jumenta e foi com os chefes
moabitas.
Deus ficou irado porque
Balaão foi. De repente, o Anjo
do Senhor se pôs na frente dele
no caminho, para barrar a sua
passagem. O Anjo ficou numa
parte estreita do caminho, entre
duas plantações de uvas, onde
havia um muro de pedra de
cada lado.
5. When the donkey saw the angel of the
Lord, it lay down under Balaam, and he was
angry and beat it with his staff. Then the Lord
opened the donkey’s mouth, and it said to
Balaam, “What have I done to you to make
you beat me these three times?”
Then the Lord opened Balaam’s eyes, and
he saw the angel of the Lord standing in the
road with his sword drawn. So he bowed low
and fell facedown.
Aí o Senhor fez a jumenta
6. Elisha’s Secret Army
When the king of Aram was at war with Israel, he would confer with his officers and say, “We will
mobilize our forces at such and such a place.” But immediately Elisha, the man of God, would warn the
king of Israel.
The king of Aram became very upset over this. He called his officers together and demanded, “Go and
find out where Elisha is, so I can send troops to seize him.” The report came back: “Elisha is at Dothan.”
So one night the king of Aram sent a great army with many chariots and horses to surround the city.
O Exército Secreto de Eliseu
Quando o rei da Síria estava em
guerra contra Israel, consultava seus
oficiais e dizia: “Posicionaremos nossas
tropas em tal lugar”. Porem de
imediato, Eliseu advertia o rei de Israel.
Furioso com essa situação, o rei sírio
reuniu seus oficiais e ordenou: “Vão e
descubram onde Eliseu está, para que
eu mande capturá-lo!”. Então lhe
informaram: “Eliseu está em Dotã”.
Assim, certa noite, o rei da Síria
mandou um grande exército com
muitos carros de guerra e cavalos para
cercar a cidade.
7. Elisha’s servant got up early that morning. When he went outside, he saw an army with horses and
chariots all around the city. The servant said to Elisha, “Oh, my master, what can we do?”
Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid. The army that fights for us is larger than the army that fights for Aram.”
Then Elisha prayed and said, “LORD, I ask you, open my servant’s eyes so that he can see.” The LORD
opened the eyes of the young man, and the servant saw the mountain was full of horses and chariots of
fire. They were all around Elisha.
Na manhã seguinte, o servo do
homem de Deus se levantou bem
cedo. Ao sair, viu que havia
soldados, cavalos e carros de
guerra por toda parte. “Ai, meu
senhor, o que faremos agora?”,
exclamou o servo.
“Não tenha medo!”, disse Eliseu.
“Pois do nosso lado há muitos mais
que do lado deles!” Então Eliseu
orou: “Ó Senhor, abre os olhos dele,
para que veja”. O Senhor abriu os
olhos do servo, e ele viu as colinas
ao redor de Eliseu cheias de cavalos
e carruagens de fogo.
8. Daniel in the Lion’s Den
When the Medes overthrew the Babylonians, Daniel became a senior administrator during the reign
of King Darius. However, Daniel's fellow governors became jealous and plotted against him. They
persuaded Darius to decree restrictions on prayer and worship, under penalty of death, but Daniel's well-
known devotion to his God compelled him to ignore the decree.
Daniel na cova dos leões
Quando o Reino da Média
derrotou a Babilônia, Daniel se
tornou o administrador sênior
do governo de Dário. Porem
outros dois governadores,
movidos por ciúmes,
mancomunaram para derrubar
Daniel e persuadiram o monarca
a decretar restrições às práticas
de oração e adoração. Apesar de
a pena para quem
desobedecesse ser a morte, a
bem conhecida devoção de
Daniel a Deus ignorou o edito
real.
9. When Daniel was thrown into a den of hungry lions, The king said to him, “May your God, whom you
serve so faithfully, rescue you.”
Very early the next morning, the king got up and hurried out to the lions’ den. When he got there, he
called out, “Daniel, servant of the living God! Was your God, whom you serve so faithfully, able to rescue
you from the lions?”
Daniel answered, “Long live the king! My God sent his angel to shut the lions’ mouths so that they
would not hurt me.”
The king was overjoyed and ordered that Daniel be lifted from the den. Not a scratch was found on
him, for he had trusted in his God.
O rei mandou que trouxessem Daniel e o
jogassem na cova dos leões. E o rei disse a
— Daniel, servo do Deus vivo! Será que o seu
Deus, a quem você serve com tanta
dedicação, conseguiu salvá-lo dos leões?
Daniel respondeu: — O meu Deus mandou
10. Daniel’s Vision
Daniel had been fasting for three weeks when an angelic messenger appeared to him. The angel said,
“Don’t be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day you began to pray, your request has been heard in heaven. I
have come in answer to your prayer. But for twenty-one days the spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia
blocked my way. Then Michael, one of the archangels, came to help me, and I left him there with the
spirit prince of the kingdom of Persia. Now I am here to explain what will happen to your
people in the future.”
Visão do mensageiro
me impediu. Então Miguel,
um dos príncipes mais
importantes, veio me
ajudar, e eu o deixei ali
com os reis da Pérsia.
Agora estou aqui para
explicar o que acontecerá
com seu povo no futuro”.
11. An Angel Visits Mary and Joseph
God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a village in Galilee, to a virgin named Mary. She was engaged
to be married to a man named Joseph. Gabriel appeared to her and said, “Don’t be afraid, Mary. You will
give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be very great and will be called the Son of the
Most High.
After this, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream. “Joseph,” the angel said, “do not be
afraid to take Mary as your wife. For the child within her was conceived by the Holy Spirit.” When
Joseph woke up, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded.
Gabriel apareceu a ela e lhe disse:
“Não tenha medo, Maria. Ficará grávida e dará à
luz um filho, e o chamará Jesus. Ele será grande, e
será chamado Filho do Altíssimo.”
ordenado.
12. Peter’s Miraculous Escape from Prison
Herod imprisoned Peter, placing him under the guard of four squads of four soldiers each. But
while Peter was in prison, the church prayed very earnestly for him.
The night before Peter was to be placed on trial, there was a bright light in the cell, and an angel of
the Lord stood before Peter. The angel said, “Quick! Get up!” And the chains fell off his wrists. “Now
put on your coat and follow me,” the angel ordered.
cela. Ele tocou em Pedro e disse-
lhe: —Levante-se depressa! E
nesse mesmo momento as
correntes caíram de suas mãos. O
anjo lhe disse: —Vista a sua capa
e siga-me.
13. So Peter left the cell, following the angel. They passed the first and second guard posts and came to
the iron gate leading to the city, and this opened for them all by itself. So they passed through and
started walking down the street, and then the angel suddenly left him.
Então Pedro o
seguiu para fora da
prisão. Depois de
terem passado pelo
primeiro e pelo
segundo guarda,
eles chegaram a um
portão de ferro que
dava para a cidade.
Este se abriu sozinho
e Pedro e o anjo
saíram e
continuaram pela
rua. Depois, de
repente, o anjo
desapareceu.
