With CxO demands for effective BI implementation and need for real time information on the rise, chances are your organisation has complex reporting needs from multiple data sources including the Oracle Hyperion EPM suite. This presentation will help you understand your gardenvariety integration options (FDMEE, ODI etc.), evaluate options for integrating and extracting data from HFM (EAL, Extended analytics etc.) and help you bridge the gap between the demand and supply of information. Specifically, we will walk through a real client example with the environment landscape, options evaluated and their pros and cons and lessons learnt to guide you through the process. The session will include best practices, tips and tricks, things to watch out for!

Have to run consolidation in HFM first
All requests are passed as-is if a transparent partition is used, technically the Aggregation Server of EAL will be aggregating on the fly the data over and over again
The members created by EAL for the outline are always Stored and Do Nothing (~), for both Replicated and Persistent
OBIEE ver 12 now has a connector for HFM
In HFM, eliminations happens in Value dimension
Analytics Link Data Synchronization Server
Data Synchronization Server creates a database based on the data and metadata extracted from the Financial Management application. This database is a replica of the Financial Management application. As an aggregation engine, Data Synchronization Server performs data aggregation on demand. Data Synchronization Server performs the same aggregations as the Financial Management application (except as noted below), so it returns matching results.Note: Data Synchronization Server does not perform consolidations of the Entity dimension, which is the consolidation dimension of the Financial Management application. Consolidations of the Entity dimension must be performed in Financial Management.
1 CPU, but can be increased
Memory (RAM) can be increased
Gets data from HFM then perform aggregations
Performance Tuning Tips
Transparent: Stick to pulling level 0 data (except for Entity)
Replicated:
Change certain upper level members from Stored and Do Nothing (~) to Dynamic Calc Store and Addition (+)
Change children/level0 members from Stored and Do Nothing (~) to Stored and Addition (+)
First run may take long since upper levels are set to Dynamic Calc and Store. Work with report writers to determine which upper level members should be set to Stored (as opposed to Dynamic Calc and Store)
After the first data load and the cube restructure, run an aggregation calc.
