3. The Content
The Simpsons - The Simpsons is full of
humour and controversial scenarios, The
narrative structure concentrates on
American lifestyle by making sarcastic
references to it through various means. The
usually storyline is based around an
American Family lead by the main character
and patriarch Homa Simpson; his Family life
is manipulated in a number of different
ways to make the Narrative easy to relate to
for audiences of all ages.
4. The Structure
โข Each Episode starts with a title sequence stating โThe
Simpsonsโ increasing in size amongst a blue sky and clouds.
Establishing shots then set the scene and each character is
designated a segment in the intro showing their
personality. This is followed by credits. The Simpsons
follows the Todorov theory as it starts with
equilibrium, focusing on one character per
episode, something then goes wrong and causes
disequilibrium setting off a chain of events both the main
and sub plots โanchored by the low bass and other non
diegetic sounds.
5. The Language Style
The Simpsons is full of sarcasm, creating controversial humour.
Current media stories are also sometimes addressed from a
comical angle, this is done by making high class individuals
frequently seem hypocrisy within the educational
system, religious beliefs, American political structures, and even
capitalism; these subject matters are revealed with a constant
sense of humor. The narrative is more than usually challenged by
these ironic aspects of American Life, reinforcing middle class
values. They use colloquial language as well as standard English;
the accents are typical of working class Americans. There is
generally no swearing because the Simpsons is ranged at family
audiences.
