Digg the Whole Social Networking?

Social Networking has become a way of life for most of the people
that are online nowadays. Try and find 1 person who goes online at
least a few times a week who doesn’t have a profile setup for doing
social networking. We will bet you will have a real hard time with this
frivolous pursuit. It seems that everyone ranging from grandmas in
their 80′s going online at the library to that of preteens sporting
android mobile phones with the latest social network app on it are
using it. There are no social borders as wealthy people in Dubai with
Billion Dollar pockets have profiles and so do the many who live in the
slums of 3rd world countries who don’t even own a computer, yet they
travel a few hours to an internet cafe where they can log on to their
social network account.
The names of these websites that millions of fans adore are just as
diverse as the people who go one them. In fact some of the most
popular ones, you may not even have heard of because the millions of
people who use it may be from predominantly a geographic region
that is no where near you. Sometimes it is due to a language barrier.
The most popular ones out there at a quick glance are Digg, Facebook aka FB, Twitter, MySpace, Ning, Flixster,
Last.fm, Linkedin, Flickr, Xanga, Vkontakte (Eastern Europe), Friendster, hi5, Windows Live Spaces, Orkut, Habbo, Qzone
(Chinese Language Only), MocoSpace, Mylife, MyYearbook, Tagged, Yahoo! Answers and YouTube. Whew!!!
Now that we just spit out all of the marbles out of the mouth, let’s just say that with so many social networks to choose
from, you are bound to find what you seek. Some come to these networks for finding friends and being able to chat
whenever they get free time. Others are looking for jobs and know that this is a great place to get bilateral research done.
This means that both the Job hiring as well as the candidate have the opportunity to size each other up and down to see if it
may be a right match. Then there are the gamers who just want to play the next coolest game that has come out. Shall we
not forget the business people who come on these same social networks and use it as a platform to find customers for
their products or services.
So we already know that everyone really does digg the whole social media frenzy. Social Networking is a contagious virus
that can offer the very best experiences and at the same time the most dreadful experiences for its users. Sounds
contradictory now, doesn’t it. Well, think of what information overload can do to the brain. How about the gamers that
spend hour after hour staring like zombies at pretty much the same repetitive actions over and over just to earn some
points or something of that nature. Now, for the business person who utilizes these networks as an incubator for sales, it
can be like fishing in a stocked pond using dynamite if they do their marketing correctly.
So what would be the difference between a correct campaign being pursued on these social networks and one that is just
all wrong. If you understand why spam emails or unsolicited phone calls or unfamiliar marketers knocking at your door at
dinner time are out of line, then it will be easy to see how similar tactics on these social media will get a business person
blacklisted in a hurry. Everyone like to share ideas, feel that they are being heard, research things that interest them, etc.
But nobody wants some loony sales person virtually humping their leg like a dog in heat just to make a sale.
The solution is for the business to take their time and do things the right way. Setting up proper professional profiles is a
first step. This lends credibility no different than a traditional store front or a business website. Also, being upfront that they
are in business is a very important ingredient here too. This is what establishes the Trust in the business to client
relationship. When was the last time you bought anything from a person who pretended as long as they could that they
wanted to be your friend and had an interest in what you liked. Only after a while, you caught on and realized that they hid
that they had an agenda to sell you.
Businesses that do thorough research on their target market fare much better with finding targeted niche traffic. Let’s face
it, if you are trying to sell all the members on a particular social network, you are either just desperate, not hip to the game
or an amateur in denial of your rookie status. The goal here is to use magnetic leveraging which is created by properly
calling out to the people that have an interest in what you offer. So carefully researched niche targets will get the job done
with efficiency and also help your dollar of advertising go much further and come back to you exponentially. Yes

exponentially, since we are talking about social marketing. Once people like what you have, it can spread through their
networks like wildfire.
We help our clients to succeed in marketing to the social networks using tried strategies that work because they are based
on real world understanding of what provokes people to buy. In this case, what would prompt a person wrapped all up in a
social network to click on your businesses info and perhaps become another customer. It’s a game of respect, psychology,
finesse and even some old school marketing as well. Lets face it, nothing beats ad copy. So the next time you are on a
social network, remember to look around you at smile when you view 1st hand all the amateurs and naive business folks
who are literally chasing after anyone who has an “online” status.
