You can never get enough advice when it comes to choosing and buying great China Android
phones. I want you to have the best success when it comes to getting phones to supply your
customers with, so I've put together 9 tips that you can follow to be sure that you end up with the best
quality handsets.
We've all heard about the many scams, and low quality goods available in China; but this doesn't mean
that you won't unearth some real gems here as well.

Buying from China, regardless of if you're buying 1 phone, or one thousand, requires you to be careful,
and to research what you're going to be doing in advance.
1. Research The Phone Manufacturer.
There are many phone manufacturers, or even companies that 'claim' to be manufacturers, in China.
Would you buy from someone that you don't know?
Whilst you can buy from a reseller, you're going to get the best deals by going straight to the
manufacturer.
A search online should give you some indication, but don't forget to use Chinese channels to find them
as well, as they may not be advertised on the Western internet.

2. What Are The Phones' Specifications?
OK, so you may have found a manufacturer, or supplier of China Android phones, that you like the look
of. However, you also need to spend some time researching the phones that they're offering.
Check the specifications of each phone, and make sure that the design of each is what you're looking
for. Are they the right size, powerful enough, operate on your local networks, etc?
A wise move would be to request samples before ordering. Even if you have to pay for them, this is a
worthwhile cost, as you're investing in the future of your business.
Once you have parted with cash it will be hard to recover if a shipment of phones of the wrong type
arrives, so make sure they're perfect for your needs in advance.
3. Find & Read Reviews On China Android Phones.
Even smaller Chinese brand phones will have online reviews, or perhaps videos, somewhere. Seek
them out and read or watch them.
They'll give you a truer feel for what the phone is really like than the manufacturer's specifications will.

I suggest searching for the brand of your phone, and its model in Google. Despite being a Chinese
phone, it's very likely that Western sites will have picked up on it.
Videos are also useful, even if they're sponsored, as these help you to see what the phones look like
when held and in use.

3. 4. Get Help To Understand Phones Perfectly.
It can be hard to negotiate the minefield of sourcing China Android phones for your business, and if you
hit a wall then you need to ask for help.
There are 2 ways that you can get help:
1. Ask the manufacturer / reseller. Take what they say with a pinch of salt, as remember that
these people want to make a sale. However, it's in their interest to help you, and you can gauge
how reputable a company is by how accomodating they are.
Do they give you more info in English? Do they go the extra mile?
2. Ask your peers. It will require a bit of digging, but you may well find the information you're
looking for from other phone distributors, or phone enthusiasts, in places like blogs and forums.
Consider the sites mentioned in point 3 above. These have comments where people can share
extra information.
If someone seems well informed, why not drop them a line and ask them your questions?
Or you could try diving into the forums, and asking people there for help too. Somewhere
like Android central's forum should help.
5. Do The Phones Even Work In Your Country?
Does your country, or region, have specific phone certifications?
You can bet that it does, and whilst you may know these, are you making sure that the phones you're
sourcing from abroad adhere to them?
Specifications may help, but since you don't want your shipment to be impounded, once again I'd
advise getting samples in advance and having them inspected by experts in your country.
6. Are The Phones You Like Even Released Yet?
Everything seems to take longer in China, and this is because quite often processes are more
complicated and convoluted than back at home.
It is not unknown for distributors like you to source what seams to be the perfect phone, pay their order,
and then be told that the phone isn't set to be released yet, and is, "coming soon!"
In effect, you will have pre-ordered the phones!
This kind of misunderstanding is another reason that mitigates going to China to do the business in
person, rather than relying on email. The language barrier can lead to a misunderstanding like this, but
if you meet directly with your supplier, there is much less chance that a situation like this would occur.
7. Are You Being Sold Fake Phones?
There is dishonesty everywhere, and China is no different.
As a foreign businessman, you can have a target on your back when it comes to scams. If a deal, or

4. phone, looks too good to be true, then it probably is!
Being street-wise is your first line of defence, but the best way to guard against scams in China is to
build long-term, meaningful, business relationships with suppliers that you can trust.
Building trust may not be easy with the Chinese, as they are often wary of foreigners; however
they do want to do business with you. If you treat them well, and try to do business with them in a
'Chinese way,' then you will gain trusted suppliers who like you very much.
At that point, no way are you going to have to worry about such nonsense as being scammed.
8. Be Prepared To Pay Import Tax.
You're no doubt aware that your country may charge import tax on any new phones that you have
shipped to you, but don't forget to factor in this cost to your deal.
Although Chinese phones may be cheap compared with buying in your country, the tax could tip the
deal over the edge into not being so worthwhile.
9. Pay In A Secure Way.
The last thing you want is to lose your money, and paying securely is important.
For large shipments you probably need to make a bank transfer, however you should demand to pay in
installments. A reputable supplier should be able to accomodate this, and it allows you to keep hold of
money until the phones have arrived safely!
For smaller shipments, paying with PayPal is ideal. You're protected if anything goes wrong, as PayPal
frequently side with the customer when a pay dispute arises. A bank transfer cannot be recovered in
the same way.
