                                                     A Lasting Impact

Since its creation in 2006, the EDP has forever changed development in Danville/Boyle County.
Here are just a few accomplishments of the EDP and its partners:

✓ Downtown Danville has experienced a net gain of 161 new jobs and $257 million in investments since 2006.
✓ Created through the Heart of Danville a record return on investment of $409 in cumulative downtown investments for every
$1 in public funds invested in the Heart of Danville over the past five years.
✓ Recruited Meggitt Aircraft Braking Systems Corporation, Alternative Energies Kentucky, and Alan Clark Holdings to Danville,
resulting in capital investment of over $8.4 million and 90 new jobs.
✓ Purchased via the Boyle County Industrial Foundation the facility at 120 Corporate Drive for $2.8 million to lease to Meggitt,
saving taxpayer dollars in key real estate transactions as it has since 1961.
✓ Directly aided expansions at America Greetings, Dana, Greenleaf Plant Food, Pioneer Vocational/Industrial Services, and
Caterpillar, resulting in total of 205 new jobs. Two expansion projects (totaling over 50 new jobs) have been approved for state
incentives, and another capital reinvestment project is seeking state incentives with the EDP’s assistance. Neither project is yet
    ready for announcement.
✓Helped reverse closure decisions at Red Wing and Intelligrated, saving a total
                                                        of 180 jobs.
✓Initiated the Alcohol Sales Task Force, its detailed findings, and its
recommendations that led to the successful referendum for expanded alcohol
sales in the City of Danville.
✓Developed a pipeline of 12 new business projects currently considering
Danville as a business location versus only ONE project in December 2007,
with 3 site visits by different projects in just the last month.
✓Led creation of the award-winning Bluegrass South Regional Economic
Development Coalition, now including 9 Central Kentucky counties, for business marketing and public policy advocacy of the
region. The regional initiative has resulted in 3 new business projects considering Danville as part of the Bluegrass South
    region.

over 12 marketing missions and 7 targeted events.

    signage ordinance.
✓ Coordinated community volunteers and resources to restore 2 key historic buildings on Merchants Row and a
portion of a third building which is currently under restoration.
✓Led the EDP’s social media strategies to be a national model for
economic development organization, with the EDP Facebook page
having one of the top 5 followings among all economic development
pages in the world. The EDP has been sought out as an example by
counterparts from Connecticut to Georgia to Mississippi, with
business prospects being lured to Danville as far as Arizona via
                                                 LinkedIn.
✓Assisted in generating tourism expenditures of $65,802,229 for
                                                   Danville/Boyle County in 2010 alone!
✓Fast tracked 10 businesses to a successful launch in Danville/Boyle
County. Offered business assistance to 17 more.
✓ Facilitated the creation of a job database, the management of a Teacher Academy, and developing the Danville/
    Boyle County workforce.
✓ Responded to 31 new industrial inquiries/projects and 53 commercial inquiries/projects (8 of which are currently
    live commercial projects).
✓ Led the Danville Micropolitan Area to be ranked #14 (2010) and #12 (2009) in the US and #1 in Kentucky both
years by SITE Selection magazine for new and expanding business projects, up from #41 (2008) and #38 (2007)
nationally and #3 in Kentucky those years.
✓ Developed a more detailed and consistent Boyle County Quarterly Employment
Report that is issued for public review to monitor short-term and long-term
employment trends in the local economy.
✓ Launched website as a virtual gateway to all Partner websites at
    www.betterindanville.com.
✓ Established for the first time in 2009 a Private Investment Campaign to attract
private sector financial support to the EDP for targeted projects and business
marketing/development.  These private funds supplement city/county funding
for the EDP’s operations to minimize requests for increased public funding.  In
fact, the EDP requested no increase to public funding for FY 2011-12.
