4. I think that the way I have put my products together work well as through all of them I have made a link. Through all
three the main link I have made is the significance of the necklace in the video as I have made it the front cover of the
digipak and also as the main image of the magazine cover. It also links in with the bands original album ‘American Idiot’
which this is supposed to be a single from. I have done this by the logo being on the guitar pick necklace and also
through the use of the colour scheme which is red black and white which is also apparent in the music video from the
outfits our characters are wearing and also through the instruments.
I think that the main links are between the advert and the digipak and then the music video and the digipak. I did this
as the digipak has to be the all rounder for the link as it is the product they would all come from. The advert and the
digipak link through use of colour scheme and the, the fonts and the scratch pattern I have used on the black
background. I made this link as people would instantly recognise that there is a link. I also did this as they would also be
recognised by the audience as being the single from the ‘American Idiot’ album.
The digipak and the music video have the most links as I used notable objects from the music video in the panels of the
digipak such as the telephone box (which also ties in with the colour scheme), the mobile phone (which Sophie
receives a text from Andy), the necklace (which Andy puts on Sophie’s door handle). I also used other things which tie
them together which aren’t necessarily in the video. I used a guitar and amplifier for one panel as it links to the music
side of the video and with the image of the band. It also worked well with the colour scheme but if I could have access
to the guitar used in the video I would have probably used that. For the disc trays I used the notebook theme of the
lyrics as it links to the song and the music video but also has significance to the bands other albums as they use this
idea in a lot of their other albums.
I think all round my products do have an effective link in terms of the audience being able to recognise they are all part
of the same promotional package. I also think that the digipak and music video have the strongest tie between each
other due to the imagery I have used in them such as the phone, telephone box and the necklace. I think that the main
link between all three is the significance of the ‘Green Day’ necklace.
