3. 24 Karat Gold Chain Facial Mask
Visitors to the Talise Otto-
man Spa will have the option to
be treated to the most luxurious
spa treatment in the world. This
facial, under the eye of skincare
expert to the stars, Margie Lom-
bard, involves a 24-carat gold
chain mask. It is said to minimize
collagen depletion and break-
down of elastin in the skin; the two
main causes of aging. When the
mask is removed there is an instant
look of tighter and brighter skin.
BONUS: Guests are also treated
to caviar lunch.
Everyone flies for different
reasons; some for leisure, busi-
ness, or family matters. What-
ever poison you choose, it is
important to take time out for
yourself and get rejuvenated.
There are so many great spas
offering insane treatments to
those brave enough to test them
out. Sometimes spa treatments
walk the fine line of relaxing
and enter into just plain weird.
After researching spas we com-
piled a list of the ten most out-
rageous treatments and where
to get them. Sit back, relax,

The Zen Zone Spa in the Gran
Hotel La Florida located in Barcelona,
Spain, guests can try the Sparience
Oxygen Bubble. This giant bubble re-
lieves stress and is supposed to mini-
mize the time to recover from an injury.
The bubbles are filled with 99.5% ox-
ygen to provide you with mental and
physical relaxation. The bed inside the
bubble uses shape, color, light, sounds,
vibrations, and variations in tempera-
ture to ensure total relaxation of the
body.
At the K West Hotel in
London, one of the spa treat-
ments available utilizes hot
to cold therapy where guest
go from a steamy sauna to
a below zero ice box. The
difference in temperatures
stimulates the body to circu-
late the blood and improve
the immune system. The frigid
rooms are designed to feel
like a snowdrift.
The Kento Fish Spa in Singapore
is one of the best Fish Spas in the
world. This trend that is highly popu-
lar in Asian countries had customers
place their feet in tanks of warm fresh
water containing hundreds of Garra
Rufa fish. These fish, also called the fish
doctors gently nibble the dead skin
on the feet. They provide a micro-vi-
bration feeling. Feet are left smoother
and softer. Although this practice is
considered illegal in a lot of states
in the US, plenty of people abroad
swear by these little doctors.
snow paradise
If your idea of relaxation includes
a stiff drink, there’s something for you
too! At the Esperanza Resort in Los
Cabos, guests can enjoy a Tequila
Soother. First, you are rubbed down
with a salt and lime exfoliation, and
followed with an aloe vera and honey
mask with a tequila-agave body wrap.
The second part of the treatment is a
yogurt and oat facial and finished with
a full body massage and of course a
complimentary margarita made with
premium white tequila, grapefruit, and
limejuice. Cheers!
Warning: this treatment is not for
the faint of heart. Thrill seeker in Israel
can enjoy a snake massage at Ada
Barak’s Carnivorous Plant Farm in
Talmei Elezar. Guests will experience
live snakes slither across their backs.
The different weights and cool tem-
perature of the snakes’ skin allow for a
truly relaxing sensation when they slide
up and down the spine.
For a truely Mexican ex-
perience try the Hakali Mas-
sage at the Apuane Spa in
the Four Seasons Resort in
Punta Mita, Mexico. This treat-
ment utilizes spine-free cacti
to massage a blend of No-
pal- a prickly pear cactus and
Pulque- an alcohol from the
agave plant similar to tequila.
Nothing like a good rubdown
with a cactus.
9. Diamond Exfoliation and Caviar Cream
For those who require a little more luxury,
what is more luxurious than caviar and dia-
monds? At the spa in the Ritz Carlton New York,
Centeral Park, guests get a full body rubdown
of La Prairie’s Cellular Microdermabrasion
Cream, which has micro-crystals of diamonds,
fresh water peals, and quartz to exfoliate skin.
When all the dead skin is scrubbed off and the
skin’s texture is totally smoothed, a layer of Skin
Caviar Luxe Body Cream provides the perfect
ending.
Koan Float
Who doesn’t want to float away your
problems in the ocean? Well in Amsterdam
guests can “float” away in a pod. The little
body cabin is filled up with warm salt water
and all external factors such as sounds, lights,
change in temperature, and even gravity are
removed to provide you with the most relaxing
experience. The hour-long float session is said
to be equivalent to four hours of sleep. The
treatment is meant to deep relaxation and
was specifically created for travelers having a
difficult time adjusting to new time zones and
recovering jet lag.
20 Hands Duo Massage
This three-step treatment for couples
begins with an hour of hydrotherapy at the Spa
Grande at Grand Wailea in Wailea, Hawaii.
Next is a half-hour foot soak and pressure point
foot massage. Then, guests are treated to a
"hula wave" which has 10 therapists circle them,
massaging constantly with their 20 hands. Here’s
the kicker, the price is $2,000 for just 2 hours!

16. Society today is incredibly depen-
dent on technology. Whether it is sending
a simple text message like “lol,” posting
your dinner on Instagram, or updating your
Facebook status, people are constantly
using technology in some way shape or
form. Consequently, certain aspects of our
lives are changing. For example, flying.
Remember when you had to turn off
your cell phone, iPod, laptop and other
electronic devices when traveling on a
plane? Well, this is not the case anymore.
Wi-Fi can now be found on select
airlines. More than 500 airlines have ac-
cess to Wi-Fi, according to an article in
The Wall Street Journal.
The expanded capability to access
internet while flying was made possible by
GoGo. GoGo has built ground stations
all across the U.S. that airplanes communi-
cate with to provide Wi-Fi for passengers.
The stations offer 3G, but unfortunately
only about 3.1Mps for the entire flight are
available, according to www.techradar.
com. For everyone who does not un-
derstand the size of 3.1Mps, it is a small
amount of data; therefore, there is not a
Business 31
“AIRPLANES PROVIDE
PASSENGERS WITH WI-FI, BUT
THERE’S A CATCH...”
lot that passengers can do with it besides
using Wi-Fi for basic tasks like accessing
the internet or sending text messages. Pas-
sengers would never be able to stream a
movie since that would require a lot more
data.
It sounds absolutely wonderful to
have any internet access at all while still
being 30,000 feet in the air. However,
there are some problems. Since the avail-
able data is so small, it is causing the Wi-Fi
to be extremely slow. Also, the airlines are
charging passengers for the Wi-Fi access.
Michael Planey, a consultant specializing in
in-flight passenger technologies, told The
Wall Street Journal, “There’s a very substan-
tial decline in passenger usage the minute
you start charging for the service.”
Another issue is that airplanes do not
have enough power ports. Of course fre-
quent travelers are smart enough to carry
extra batteries for all of their electronic
devices, but Wi-Fi can drain power fast.
Therefore, the people who do not travel
often but want to try out the Wi-Fi will not
be able to use their electronics for the
duration of the flight.
Staying connected
In-Flight
17. Even with some of the
problems, people will argue
that paying a fee is better
than the typical plane en-
tertainment. Mike Duguay,
a flyer from Boston, said to
The Wall Street Journal, “It
should be free, but if you
have to pay, I’ll definitely
still use it. Access in the air
kills the boredom.”
The Wall Street Jour-
nal’s article explained
333
that many airlines are hoping that Wi-Fi is an affordable solution to the other
expensive in-flight entertainment. It is a way for them to avoid the installation
of satellite-television systems and the screens on the back of the seats. Some
airlines that have internet access are hoping to eventually allow users to log
on and watch movies and television shows.
Not all airlines are using Wi-Fi as the solution to their unanswered prayers.
Continental Airlines said that it is moving forward with satellite television installa-
tion, according to The Wall Street Journal. A spokeswoman told The Wall Street
Journal that survey of frequent fliers found that live television is actually more
preferable than Wi-Fi.
Since people are so dependent on technology and they constantly
access the internet, imagine telling them that they cannot use any of that for a
brief flight. Before Wi-Fi was added, passengers powered down their phones,
iPods and other electronics. Most were probably not happy, but it was proto-
col. Now, internet access on an airplane is expected. Wi-Fi on planes is not
still a luxury, but soon enough it will become the norm. Travelers will be able to
check their emails in the air along with scrolling through Twitter. With a society
so consumed by technology, it sounds like a dream come true.

Maldives
In ancient times, the sunlit shores of
the Maldives welcomed lost travelers
from all over the world. Today, the
Maldives continue the tradition of
sharing the beauty of the islands with
travelers worldwide.
21. 41
able water sports including windsurfing, sailing, parasailing, kayaking,
kite-surfing, water-skiing or jet-skiing.
In addition to water sports, the thousands of species of fish and oth-
er creatures that inhabit the waters create a snorkeling and scuba diving
paradise. Traveling between lagoons to new dive spots can take anywhere
from 15 minutes up to 60 minutes, depending on how much time you like
to spend on the boat. The high visibility of the waters allows for a visual
range of 20 to 40 meters.
The Maldives provides two exploring options - snorkeling for those
who wish to see manta rays, whale sharks, or the rare hammerhead shark;
or macro-diving, where you can search for fascinating marine life as small
as a baby’s pinky disguised in camouflage or hiding in aquatic crevices.
Macro-diving is a unique and popular diving experience offered in the
Maldives, but others prefer exploring the thrilling waters at night. Though
there is reduced visibility during night dives, the rare sights make up for
it - imagine seeing spiders and shrimps leaving their sponges on a hunt for
food, coral reefs opening up the tentacles or transparent nurse sharks and
zebra sharks, all of which cannot be seen during the day.
The Maldives consists of 1,190 islands, 200 of which are inhabited.
The islands are spread around 26 natural atolls, which are structures that
form upon sharp ridges that rise from the ocean, creating lagoons adorned
with coral reefs. Of the 200 inhabited islands dispersed around the atolls,
about 90 islands have been developed as tourist resorts. The Maldives are
located off the southwest coast of India in the Indian Ocean, where there
is a near constant temperature of 86 degrees Fahrenheit. Frequent sunny
days and breezy nights accompanied by luminous sunrises and sunsets
attract tourists to these unique islands that sit in the middle of clear blue
ocean water.
Local scenes vary depending on which island you travel to - some lo-
cations will have brightly painted houses and artisan markets surrounding
the lagoon areas where you can hear the bodu-beru drum being played to
the sound of African beats, while other locations appear as quaint fishing
villages scattered with traditional wooden holhuashis. Holhuashis are built
with hollow wooden trunks that are tied together to form large benches
with a thatched roof, similar to what is known as a gazebo. Fishing towns
set these island gazebos up near the harbor, as locals can often be spotted
exchanging stories and playing cards to relax after a hard day’s work. Ap-
preciation of life is an important custom of the Maldives, as locals finish
their work by late afternoon to spend the rest of the day walking around
the island with their families and friends, visiting one another and sharing
homemade delicacies until the sun goes down.
life
Given that 99 percent of
the Maldives is made up of the
ocean, there is a large attrac-
tion towards the crystal-clear,
abundantly inhabited waters
that flow around the coral reefs.
Local Maldivians can often be
seen swimming, playing wa-
ter polo, or surfing. Surfing is
extremely popular in the Mal-
dives from June to September,
due to the southwest monsoon
that brings massive swells with
waves ranging from three to
eight feet. However, if surfing’s
not for you, feel free to choose
from an array of other avail-
22. Yet, if you find yourself more of a land
creature, you can still experience the magic
that the Maldives has to offer just by walking
along the beach at night. Instead of getting in
the ocean to get a glimpse of Maldives’ aquat-
ic creatures, one can watch a naturally-oc-
curring bioluminescent light show from the
beach. Millions of bioluminescent phytoplank-
ton wash up from the ocean and cover the
sand, emitting light when they are stressed,
such as when a person makes a footprint in
the sand or when waves crash in the ocean.
There are also an abundance of spas on
the islands for those seeking a place to un-
wind. Whether you are searching for a retreat
deep in forestry, underwater, or on a wooden
jetty surrounded by a lagoon, there are spas
within almost every resort. Traditional heal-
ing methods are incorporated into the spa
treatments, inspired by healing expert secrets
that have been passed down for generation.
For example, Maldivian virgin coconut oil is
used for hydration, the gandhakolhi leaf is
used for treating minor aches, and the sand
massage is used to aid muscle and joint pains.
Unique Maldivian experiences can also be
provided by dining restaurants.
Only in the Maldives can one dine while
sitting under the ocean’s marvelous creatures
swimming around in clear blue waters. Six-
teen feet below the Indian Ocean, one can
dine in the all-glass Ithaa Undersea Restau-
rant at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
resort. The restaurant’s lighting is provided
by the hues of the ocean above, shaded as
tropical fish, sharks, and rays swim over din-
ing tables.
Altogether, there are numerable unforget-
table experiences at the Maldives - and with
over 200 inhabited islands to explore, you’ll
never want your vacation to end with just one.

Galactic:
PIONEERING THE FUTURE OF FLIGHT
entertainment 53
“Welcome
aboard the
Virgin Galactic,
the world’s first
commercial
spaceline.”
You have seen the videos and pictures of highly trained as-
tronauts, in space shuttles, launching into space and discovering
untouched territory of our universe. Seeing our planet from space
has only been a dream for most of us. Only the highest qualified as-
tronauts have had this opportunity. Now you can make this dream a
once in a life time reality, for a hefty price tag of $250,000.
For $250,000 you have a chance of getting a seat next to
Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt,
Ashton Kutcher, Tom Hanks, and some other A-List celebrities. This tick-
et also gets you a trip to Richard Branson’s Necker Island, with three
days of training, preparation, medical checks, and bonding with your
crew. Virgin Galactic CEO, George T. Whitesides said, “Your pre-flight
preparation will ensure that you are mentally and physically pre-
pared to savor every second of your spaceflight. Basic emergency
response training, prescribed by our regulators will be at the forefront.
Activities to familiarize you with the spaceflight environment will follow
a close second.” According to John Turnipseed, Vice President of
Safety, Virgin is currently working with medical experts on more detail

for the training program. Whitesides claims that there are 625 individuals signed up,
with a revenue of at least $125 million.
There are currently two ships: The WhiteKnightTwo and The SpaceShipTwo. The
WhiteKnightTwo is the mothership. It will carry the SpaceShipTwo until 50,000 feet
and release it right under orbit route. The newest space ship, SpaceShipTwo, will
carry six passengers and two pilots. It is 60 feet long with a 90 inch diameter cabin.
Next to each seat are two large windows so you have the best view of space, no
matter what seat you choose. The ship can be compared to an air launched glider
with a rocket engine. The ship is powered by a hybrid rocket motor. The pilots can
shut down the engines, and safely glide back to the runway if need be. The Virgin
Galactic’s home base and headquarters will be located in New Mexico. The head-
quarters will be called, Spaceport America.
The initial flights into space will be at a maximum altitude of about 68 miles
(361,000 ft), right above the Karam line that divides earth and space. These flights
will just reach space without going into a steady orbit. The entire flight will last for
about two hours. SpaceShipTwo will spend about six minutes in space, without grav-
ity. Richard Branson, CEO of Virgin Airlines said, “The initial flights will be sub-orbital,
which will give people a taste of space. From there we’ll go into orbital flights and
maybe one day hotels in space.” After your journey in space is complete, the wings
of the spaceship will come up into a “feathered” position. At 70,000 ft the ship
de-feathers and goes into glide mode. The ship will continue to glide safely back to
entertainment
Spaceport America. Everything from your training, preflight, and flight will be recorded
and will be available to you to share with your family and friends.
There have been numerous dates that the ship was set to launch. Virgin Galac-
tic has been releasing dates since 2011. “It is rocket science. Nothing’s guaranteed.
We’ve had difficulties. NASA had problems when they were building their first space-
ships as well,” Branson said. “I’m pretty convinced by this summer a large new space-
craft will go into space. Then I think by September myself and my family will have been
into space. I’m 90 percent convinced that will happen.”
