After years of discussion, the EU's Technical Committee on Motor Vehicles (TCMV) has now finally made the decision to introduce RDE testing procedures for light-duty vehicles mandatory from September 2017. But the legislation still has its weakness, since many open questions remain. The industry calls for a new schedule arrangement in order to ensure sufficient preparation time for the introduction, and the EU Commission has not yet made fully clear how the testing procedures shall be defined in the end.
