Che Guevara was born into a relatively wealthy family in Argentina and received a good education. He was inspired by intellectuals like Karl Marx and went to study medicine. During a trip through South America, he witnessed extensive poverty which motivated him to fight against it. He later joined Fidel Castro's efforts to overthrow the Cuban government. As a leader in Cuba, he ordered executions without trial and helped spread communist ideas internationally. While in Bolivia, he was captured and executed. He strongly believed in fighting for his political and social ideals until victory was achieved.

Views on Red Shirts:
The former government was undemocratically removed through a military coup
The current government is being supported by those who supported the removal of the
previous government
They believe that this government has not come about through a truly democratic process
They also feel strongly against the fact that there is a big disparity between the rich and the
poor
Their goal is to bring about true democracy through whatever means necessary
Final Statement:
The Red Shirts should go to whatever means necessary to achieve what they are set to accomplish.
Important Quote:
“Hasta la victoriasiempre!” which basically means, “Always onwards to victory!”
The red shirts should not stop until they are victorious.

What is the simple background of the person that you think is significant?
I think that it is important to know that Che was raised in a fairly well off family and
his father was quite successful. Che received a good education and enjoyed reading
the works of intellectuals such as Karl Marx, Jawaharlal Nehru and many more. What
is significant is that although he was brought up in a fairly wealthy family, he was
able to feel the pain of those that were less fortunate than him. He wanted to help
those that were in need.
What historical and political events are important to understand in order to
research this person's life?
It is important to know about the Cuban Revolution
What significant events in this person's life shaped their social commitment? In
other words what happened in their lives to make them willing to take the
risks they took?
As Che traveled around the world after he had graduated, he encountered a lot of
poverty, hunger and disease and was shocked to see how unfortunate these people
were.
What did the person want to accomplish or change?
He wanted to do something about the poverty that he saw and about poverty in
general. He wanted there to be no more poverty.
What did they accomplish?
He succeeded in making Cuba a communist country.
What, if anything, about their life reminds you of something in your life? Is there
anything in their life that you relate to, or that is similar to feelings/
experiences you've had?
Like Che, I have extremely strong feelings about poverty. I feel really bad for those
that are less fortunate than I am and those that are unable to support and provide food
and shelter for their families.
What meaning does this person's life have for today?
His determination to struggle and sacrifice for his beliefs are exemplary. “In an age
when license and personal advantage continually dominate other considerations in
private and public life, Guevara`s disdain for any reward but the victory of his ideals,
his insistence upon discipline, especially for himself, his obliviousness to discomfort
3. and danger in the pursuit of what he believed to be right surely be inspiring regardless
of how one evaluates the philosophy that impelled him.” (Burla)
What are three significant quotes from this individual that summarizes their
character?
“Cruel leaders are replaced only to have new leaders turn cruel.”
“I don't care if I fall as long as someone else picks up my gun and keeps on shooting.”
“Many will call me an adventurer- and that I am, only one of a different sort: one of
those who risks his skin to prove his platitudes.”
Analysis:
In this project, it was required that I become CheGuevarra. In order to
successfully portray who he was and what he believed, I had to rely on reason
and emotion. As this project was dealing with a fairly sensitive matter of the
killing of the innocent, my emotions often came in the way of how I viewed the
actions of CheGuevarra. Sometimes these views were positive and sometimes
they were negative. If I had allowed my emotions to get in the way, I would have
probably inaccurately impersonated him. Thus it was vital that reason was used.
Through the use of deductive reasoning, I was able to see (based on research)
the kind of person that Che was and I deduced the traits that were necessary in
order to embody who he was. Though my emotions may have altered the way in
which I portrayed Che, reason allowed me to accurately disregard my views and
entirely embody him. Deductive reasoning allowed me to look at what I was
meant to enact and then choose the manner in which to act so that I was
accurately displaying his personality. All of this allowed me to be successful in
this project.
