ANGOLAN WAR OF INDEPENDENCE
Independence was achieved in 11 November 1975, after a
protracted liberation war. After independence, Angola was
the scene of an intense civil war from 1975 to 2002.The
country has vast mineral and petroleum reserves, and its
economy has on average grown at a double-digit pace since
the 1990s, especially since the end of the civil war. In spite
of this, standards of living remain low for the majority of the
population, and life expectancy and infant mortality rates in
Angola are among the worst in the world.
President: JOSE EDUARDO DOS SANTOS
THE PRAMARY LANGUAGE IN ANGOLA IS PORTUGUESE
Population 18.6 MILLION
CURRENCY: KWANZA
CAPITAL: LUANDA
DRIVES ON THE RIGTH SIDE OF THE ROAD

ANGOLAN ECONOMY:
GDP $130 MILLION
GDP GROWTH RATE 4% GDP PER CAPITAL 3%
Angola's gross domestic product (GDP) is $130,400,000,000. Angola's GDP per capita is
$6,500, which is 36% lower than the world average of $10,200.
Inflation Rate 14%
Current Account Balance $ 15.9 BILLION
Angola's very high inflation rate of 14% indicates that Angola could be on the verge
of hyperinflation. By most economists' definition, hyperinflation occurs when inflation rate
surpasses 50%, so Angola isn't quite there. Fortunately, Angola has a high GDP growth rate
of 4%. With time, if the economy continues to grow at a healthy rate and unemployment stays
low, Angola may remedy its high inflation crisis. Unfortunately, Angola's unemployment rate data
was unavailable and therefore this economic analysis is incomplete.

I was born in Angola, and I grown
up there. When I was 18 year old, I
went to the army by force. I have been
in army around four years, when I was
decided to desert the army, there are no
limited to stay in army, until you died.
I was travelling to Portugal for
looking a better life. I lived in Portugal
for one year, after I was travelling to
London, since 1996, I am still living here
with my family.
My ambition to come to London
was for studying, to getting a high
education, because, no one in my family
has it the moment. I will be the fast one
to be getting a full degree. I want to
make all my family very proud, of
myself that is my target.
