In 2006, Dana Reeve – actress, activist, and non-smoker – died of lung cancer. In 2009, Valerie Harper – actress and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant – was diagnosed with lung cancer that has since metastasized to the brain. They are the famous faces of a disease that is the leading cause of cancer deaths. Five-year survival rates for lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer deaths, are very low.
