PNS - Sila National ParkIn order to guarantee the economic-social development of the population, thePark promotes the experimentation of methods of administration of theterritory that are suitable and in fulfilling and sustaining the integrationbetween man and natural environment in order to preserve the nature.The Park promotes, also through agreements with State, Regions and localagencies, new compatible productives activities in innovative sectors and italso protects the cultural traditional values.
The plan of the Park is integrated with themeasures of conservation of the Net SystemNature 2000.Sila National Park includes in its territory 25Nets of Communitary interest, 1 Net of Nationalinterest and 3 Areas of Special Protection and,therefore, offers opportunities for theintegration of the Directive Habitat with theinstitutional system of the protected areas inItaly. So, Sila National Park has formulated aPlan of the Park integrated with theConservation Measures for the Ecological
• Conservation measures allow the sustainablemanagement of foresty and the use of itsresourses also throught biomass exploitation.• At the moment, Sila National park has notbeen able to implement the conservationmeasures of the Net System Nature 2000,because they haven’t been approved yet byCalabria Region.
Sila National Park has partecipated in the Call of the Italian Ministry of theEnvironment «Renewable Energies» presenting a project based on Directive2009/28/EC and including actions related to energy efficiency in the publicand private sector.Actions in the public sector:-Replacement and installation of biomass boilers in 8 public buildings-Photovoltaic shelter for sustainable mobility-Training courses for engineers, designers and installers on renewableenergiesActions in the private sector:-Call for the construction of biomass boilers and solar thermal systems inprivate houses and tourist facilities-Call for the implementation of photovoltaics systems on private houses andtourist facilities-Call for electric bikes and mountain bikes for the mobility inside the Park
