  13. 13. • The term “ “ pronounce ‘TABARRUK’ – is from the word “ “ BARAKAH “ - meaning : “blessings, happiness, increase, expand, abundance, goodness (seen or unseen), etc.”All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  14. 14. • Ar-Raghib defines ‘BARAKAH’ : “ (Blessings) ‘AL-BARAKAH’ is the goodness which the Divine (Allah) has bestowed (or fixed) in something.”All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  15. 15. Therefore: TABARRUK – means “seeking or hoping, to derive Divine goodness (blessings) through those (occasion, persons, (traces) relics, things, or places, etc.”All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  16. 16. “If the people of the towns had but believed and feared Allah, We should indeed have opened out to them (all kinds of) blessings (BARAKAH) from heaven and earth..” (Qur’an: A’raf: 7: 96)All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  17. 17.  “BARAKAH “ (Blessings) here encompasses those goodness which we can know, but also includes especially the unseen ‘spiritual’ bestowals beyond our human knowledge.  Muslims are aware that such “bestowals”, when present, would immensely benefit one’s life even though these could not be physically quantified. All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  18. 18. IN FOOD AND PROVISION “O Allah” (Send upon us) Your Blessings (BARIK-LANA) in (this) our provision (food) and save us from the torments of the Fire.” (Hadith reported by Ibnus-Sunny)All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  19. 19.  In this Du’a we invoke Allah’s blessings in whatever provision which we are given. What these ‘blessings’ are we do not claim to know them all, but only Allah Who is all-knowing – Wa-Allaahu a’lam.  But these (blessings) is “value-add” which we believe can be bestowed by Allah, differentiates us from the heedless (GHAAFILEEN) and the unbelievers (KAAFIREEN).All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  20. 20. AMONGST THE WEAK & POOR “You are given help and provision (by Allah by (reason of the blessings of) the presence of the weak (and the poor) amongst you.” (Hadith reported by Bukhary)All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  21. 21.  Do not under estimate the presence of the poor and weak amongst us.  We are in fact being tested with their presence, such that by our rightfully fulfilling their rights, we may deserve being assisted by Allah with much blessings.  Remember, Allah is with the “broken-hearted and patiently persevering ones.”All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  22. 22. IN EVERY UNDERTAKINGS “Every important matter (affair) which is not begun with (reciting the Basmallah) ‘In the Name of Allah, Most Compassionate, Most Merciful’ , it will become deprived (of the Blessings)” (Hadith reported by ar-Rahawy)All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  23. 23.  From this “Sunnah”, in attaching in every affairs the name of Allah, we Muslims are confident to benefit a continuous bestowal of Allah’s blessings in our life. SUB-HAANALLAH!All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  24. 24.  One example, even by attaching Allah’s name, harms are averted: ‘In the name of Allah, nothing (attached) with His name, is harmed (from whatever is) on earth or in the Heavens, and He (Allah) is The All-Seeing, The All-Knowing.’All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)

  42. 42. CONSIDER THIS QUR’ANIC VERSEAll Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  43. 43. CONSIDER THIS QUR’ANIC VERSE "Verily! The sign of His kingdom is that there shall come to you AT-TABUT (Ark of the Covenant), wherein is SAKINAH (peace and reassurance) from your Lord and a BAQIYYAH (remnant) of that which Musa (Moses) and Harun (Aaron) left behind, carried by the angels. Verily, in this is a sign for you if you are indeed believers.” (Qur’an: Baqarah: 2: 248)All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  44. 44. CONSIDER THIS QUR’ANIC VERSE Tafsir Ibnu Katsir: Ibn Jarir related that Ibn `Abbas said about this ayah – BAQIYYAH – referring to, Moses staff and the remnants of the Tablets. This is the same Tafsir of Qatadah, As-Suddi , Ar- Rabi` bin Anas and `Ikrimah, who added, "And also the Torah.‘‘All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  45. 45. CONSIDER THIS QUR’ANIC VERSE Tafsir Ibnu Katsir: Ath-Thawri said, "Some said that it contained a pot of manna and the remnants of the Tablets, while some others said that it contained (Moses) staff and two shoes (and refer to Qur’an: Ta Ha :20:12).All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  46. 46.  We can understand why some Muslims, especially those who compare Islam, simplistically, with other religion to conclude that every acts of “seeking blessings and veneration” of things and places practiced even by Muslims must also be “shunned” – ruled by them to also be SHIRK or if not, with the caveat “closing the door” to SHIRK.All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  47. 47.  But as what can be adduced by the evidence (from Al-Qur’an, As-Sunnah and opinions of pious predecessors) is that, the blessings of Allah indeed are present in certain people, events, things and places - and seeking to gain Allah’s blessings (TABARRUK) through them were done by previous righteous people of TAUHEED.All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  48. 48.  What differentiate us from the MUSHRIKEEN is the erroneous belief (AQEEDAH) they hold. Many of them subscribe to HULUL (divine in-dwelling) and actually regard these things or the persons they venerate or sought blessings from (TABARRUK), as possessing “divine” aspect or attributes – thus a clear SHIRK (ascribing partners to Allah). All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)
  49. 49.  Whereas Muslims with TAUHEED do not hold such belief. Our concept of something regarded as “sacred”, totally rejects all such suggestion of any Divine “in-dwelling” or “incarnation” or “union”.  Thus ‘Umar al-Khattab r.a. said to the black stone (HAJR-AL-ASWAD): “You are but a stone which cannot benefit nor harm, but because I have seen the Prophet s.a.w kissed you, I now kiss you!”All Rights Reserved© Zhulkeflee Hj Ismail (2012)

  52. 52. CAUSE FOR THE LOST OF HONOUR AND BLESSINGS. “When my community (ummah) glorify worldly matters then the HAIBAH (honour) of Islam will be removed from them; and when they ceased the work of calling to good and forbidding wrong, then they will not benefit from any BARAKAH (blessings, goodness) of the Revelation (Al-Qur’an and As-Sunnah).
