  3. 3. The Conventional Way Use sample test cases to check tool compatibility Identify different classes of objects Identify different possible events Record & Evaluate POOR COVERAGE THE WAY OF THE WIZARD 3 STARWEST KEYNOTE Oct 6th: Test Automation Magic
  4. 4. The Conventional Way Select test cases, choose tool, decide design and automate The Do or Don’t choice The Time choice The Tool choice The Test Case choice The Design choice THE WAY OF THE WIZARD AUTOMATION FAILURES 4 STARWEST KEYNOTE Oct 6th: Test Automation Magic
  5. 5. The Conventional Way Use of either a keyword driven or a functional decomposition approach Combine the modularity of functional decomposition approach with the usability of keyword driven approach Not only separate data, but keep data reusable too Reuse functions/ business processes by approaching functionality wise and not test case wise INADEQUATE MAINTAINABILITY 5 THE WAY OF THE WIZARD STARWEST KEYNOTE Oct 6th: Test Automation Magic
  6. 6. The Conventional Way Automation is done by and for the automation engineers to maintain Create a (visual) layer for business users Automatically generate manual test cases Keep scripts portable INADEQUATE USABILITY 6 THE WAY OF THE WIZARD STARWEST KEYNOTE Oct 6th: Test Automation Magic

  8. 8. The Conventional Way Increase machines or eliminate test cases to reduce execution time Run functional automated tests using multiple virtual users Use an algorithm that selects and runs test cases in a way that every function is executed at least once Choose vertical automation instead of horizontal automation to execute faster POOR OPTIMIZATION 8 THE WAY OF THE WIZARD STARWEST KEYNOTE Oct 6th: Test Automation Magic
