Senior Project II CULTURAL RETREAT CENTER – FOR ALTERNATIVE MEDICINETheme: Environmentally Sustainable TourismEnvironmentally Sustainable Tourism development comes as the combination of what the terms of tourism andsustainable environment mean. Since everything is toward the sustainable environment and this term becamethe new ear that adds the future perspectives for any development, for that reason the project theme will havethis term in order to apply what sustainable environment means and provide. This will emphasize the projectimportance whether for time now or for future, also applying the sustainable aspects will guarantee innovativeideas and comprehensive results.On other hand, tourism has many impacts and considerations in terms of economy, social life and environment.From these piles it can be seen the importance of what tourism mean for any country which makes it one of thepriorities for any future development. That will lead to the idea of making projects that will sustain andpreserve the present and the future environment.Sustainable or eco-tourism means a sustainable development that meets the needs for present people withoutcompromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs through environment and society.

It isbased on historical or cultural traditions, rather than on scientific evidence.Cultural Retreat Center takes the diversity in meditation from several cultures all over the world into one singleplace, such as, Chinese & Indian Medicine.Qatar and the GCC countries has also a wide range of Alternative methods for meditation that was practicedlong time ago and should be preserved, brought back to present and taught for the future generations.CRC combines all of these opportunities of practicing and learn about Alternative medicine in a uniqueatmosphere.The Project Name “NATURA” derived from the Latin origin of the word “Nature”Types of Cultural Alternative MedicineTraditional Chinese Medicine:An ancient type of medicine, practiced in China, which includes chiropractic, naturopathic, homeopathic, andChinese therapies such as acupuncture, massage, and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).In excess of 5,000 Chinese herb have been categorized and classified according to the various properties whichthey contain.

Hundreds of plant-based medicines are employed,including cardamom and cinnamon. Some animal products may also be used, for example milk, bones, andgallstones. In addition, fats are used both for consumption and for external use.

Programmingphase will start from defining architects goals and objectives to be achieved in the project as well as to meetpeoples needs and wants and then searching for strategies that would be implemented to reach these goals.Moreover a determination of activities that would take place in the spaces is going to be discussed briefly in thefollowing page.

To the east side of the shore line is the future economic zone, while to the south is the New DohaPort.The initial master plan was developed into the following form and the land was divided into four parts; each ofwhich is specified for one type of project.
