Mission statement & objectives <ul><li>Be recognised as the community (club) of European corporations(*) of all sizes involved in all kinds of social media initiatives, including corporate blogs and the use of social networks </li></ul><ul><li>Enable European social media experts to meet with their peers from all other European corporations, in their own country and across borders </li></ul><ul><li>Become the reference for social media in Europe as to best practices and methods, via the publication of a reference guide book for European professionals interested in leveraging social media (online & offline) </li></ul><ul><li>(*) by corporations, we mean any company having invested in social media, irrespective of company and revenue size </li></ul>

An internet of people <ul><li>A European organisation with regional chapters </li></ul><ul><li>Each country chapter would start locally with its own budget / organisation / subdomain (one per chapter) </li></ul><ul><li>Each country chapter would have to meet minimal requirements </li></ul><ul><ul><li>a blog based website (on that subdomain), linked to other chapters </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>a European board with 3 project leaders (to start with) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>similarly, a board for each chapter with 4-5 project leaders each (events, content, &quot;cooptation“,etc.) </li></ul></ul>

Guiding principles <ul><li>all content produced by the community/club must be made available to anyone, free of charge (or almost) on the Internet (and via libraries and online sales as to the paper copies) </li></ul><ul><li>membership through cooptation </li></ul><ul><li>agencies/vendors allowed but none can be co-opted by any of their clients, or another agency/vendor (unless it’s part of the same group) </li></ul><ul><li>agencies/vendors are on the contrary welcome and encouraged to bring on their clients </li></ul><ul><li>daughter/sister companies are automatically allowed to join the club, be they clients or agencies </li></ul><ul><li>agencies/vendors are welcome but not allowed to pitch to the members. Failure to comply will lead to the agency/vendor exclusion </li></ul><ul><li>minimal subscription fee as a token, has to be a small figure, but openly displayed on the website as well as where the money is going </li></ul><ul><ul><li>ballpark figure for this fee approx. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>€ 150 per company per annum and discounted €100 rate per extra member (of the same group) </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. Roadmap <ul><li>setup final rules/guidelines no later than end of March, </li></ul><ul><li>having websites/blogs up no later than end of April, </li></ul><ul><li>having at least 20 to 30 confirmed members by end of April, </li></ul><ul><li>launch date September </li></ul>
