I am working in KWS Malindi Marine Park as a JICA volunteer of environment teacher. This presentation is for practice nature game named "Forest in the bottle".
To create own miniature forest in the bottle and observe natural cycle.

  1. 1. Forest in the bottle~Let’s create own forest~ Takatoshi AKAI KWS Malindi Marine Park JICA
  2. 2. Requirement• Small plants (3 ~ more species)• Scoop• Big glass bottle• Gravel• Powdered charcoal• Stocking• Soil• Sand• Funnel• Decoration (Ex: driftwood, stone, leaf)
  3. 3. Collect small plants by scoop.Collect plants with roots and soil
  4. 4. Insert gravel 2.5cm from bottom of bottle Then, insert powdered charcoal 1cmThis charcoal filter to clean up water!

  7. 7. Mix charcoal powder, sand, andsoil and insert on the top for 1cm
  8. 8. Decide where to put plants and make hole. Then put water a bit, and plant own plants.
  9. 9. Put small forest beside window to get sunlight

What we learn from this activity?• Water flow in the forest inside of the bottle, same as in nature.• Plants get water from roots and evaporate from leaf.• Evaporated water reach to the bottle cap and become drip.• Once drip drop from top of the bottle, it will be called rain in the nature.
