WHO WE ARE <ul><li>The English Language Department is intended to develop skills on the students, which allows them to read comprehensively different types of texts and use the foreign language to exchange ideas and information. This will permit students being part of the global communication process and being competent individuals in working areas. </li></ul>
  3. 4. WHAT WE WANT <ul><li>To reach by 2013, the B1 level of competence in the 50% of senior students. This will allow the institution to become the first Public Bilingual School in Barranquilla. </li></ul>

WHAT WE DO <ul><li>Syllabus according to government policies: National Bilingual Program, European Common Framework, National standards. </li></ul><ul><li>Classroom projects. </li></ul><ul><li>Appealing activities. </li></ul><ul><li>Participation in Forums presenting meaningful experiences. </li></ul><ul><li>Department meetings. </li></ul><ul><li>Research (Teaching Math and Science in English). </li></ul><ul><li>Professional development (Mentoring) </li></ul>

WHAT WE HAVE <ul><li>Support (trainings, chats) from Secretaría de Educación and local universities (Universidad del Norte). </li></ul><ul><li>Bilingual classroom (specialized software). </li></ul><ul><li>A volunteer from Peace Corps. </li></ul><ul><li>Donation (books related to different subjects) by Children International. </li></ul><ul><li>HUMAN RESOURCE: Committed English teachers. </li></ul>

WHAT WE DREAM ABOUT <ul><li>Becoming the first public Bilingual School in Barranquilla. </li></ul><ul><li>Organizing the first District Interschool Video Contest. </li></ul><ul><li>Implementing a course to teach Math and Science in English. </li></ul><ul><li>Implementing an English language course for teachers in need. </li></ul>
