Introduction We humans were not meant to fiddle with numbers, we were just like other mammals – Hunt-Eat-Sleep, but still somehow we did created numbers to satisfy the creative needs of human brain. It all started with early man, who by, some means wanted to have some record of their members in their group, amount of food shared, how many children do they total have, etc. And thus, the invention of numbers came about. 0 to 9. And then simple mathematical operation and complex
  5. 5. Development of Maths. Indeed it was not a surprise that numbers flourished, man grew and an era modern technology came. All thanks to engineering maths. Indians invented the ‘zero’ , Romans, Arabians, Egyptians – They are all believed to be the inventers of the number system. But, surely no record has ever been found who created the numbers. These numbers are about 30,000 years old. Then came the era of thinkers who created new mathematical operations and began to use them for every kind of purposes purpose.
  6. 6. Why Do we need Maths? It’s required everywhere, anywhere and every time like in- • Engineering • Medicine • Banking and Finance sector • Business • Constructions And the most important use is definitely for ‘Personal day to day work’.
  7. 7. Use in Engineering  Used in physics ‘extensively’  Used in graphics ‘structurally’  Used in Civil engineering ‘practically’  It’s used in every field of engineering. We require engineering maths in Bridge construction, defence, aeronautics, nuclear research work, etc. One can say engineering revolution came in 17th century, but did it always made life easy for us?
  8. 8. Cont.. Maths did created wonders but it also created big-big blunders. Take for example ‘The Great Depression’ of 1929. It is one of the cause that started the Second World War. It decimated about 3% of world population about 60 million.
