OPEN POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POSITION in a COMPUTATIONAL CHEMISTRY GROUP at UNIVERSITAT AUTÒNOMA DE BARCELONA

We are seeking for a qualified and motivated young scientist to carry out quantum- mechanical computer simulations in a project focused on the modeling of amorphous interstellar silicates surfaces and their adsorption and chemical reactivity properties. The position is associated to a project recently funded by the “Europa Excelencia” program (a program addressed to projects presented in the ERC Starting Grant 2013 call that passed the first step of the approval process but not retained for funding) of the Spanish Government. The project involves collaboration with experimental astrochemistry and astronomer teams from France and Italy. The work contract is for 1 year.

The ideal candidate must have:
- A PhD degree in chemistry, physics, or a related discipline
- Experience in theoretical studies related to solid state, surface science or
heterogeneous catalysis
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
- High motivation and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues
