Marikina City Ordinance No. 011, Series of 2013 - ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING NEW RATES OF PASSENGER FARES FOR PUBLIC UTILITY TRICYCLES OPERATING WITHIN MARIKINA CITY

I-Café PilipinasBusiness Practitioner at I-Café Pilipinas

The Marikina City Ordinance prescribing an increase in fares of passengers riding the authorized tricycles in the city. The minimum fare for a 1-kilometer distance was increased from Eight (₱8.00) to Nine (₱9.00) Pesos per person and special trip fare for 1 to 2 persons for the same distance from Eighteen (₱18.00) to Twenty (₱20.00) Pesos. The fare for distance travelled in excess of one (1 km) kilometer remains at One (₱1.00) Peso per passenger per kilometer. Senior citizens and elementary students are granted discounts on the minimum fares in the amounts of ₱2.00 and ₱1.00 respectively while children aged 3 to 5 years old will be charged ₱3.00 per trip.

ordinance to promote the general welfare of the inhabitants of the city, and pursuant to 
this legislativc function shall:

WHERI|AS. Ordinancc No. li0. Series of 2008 authorized public utility tricycles 
opcrating u'ithin Marikina Citl'to collect the following passenger fares: 
(a) P8.00 par pussenger /br the lirst kilomeler ond P1.00 per passenger 
.f or era r.t' stt L' ( a cd ing ki lonrc I a r ; and 
(h) PtS.00 lbr u spcciul trip ttirh one (l) or n'o (2) pussenger(s) for the 
lirsl kilomclar. plus P1.00 per pussenger .[or every succeeding 
kilonrcler.

necessar):

(a) P9.00 pcr passcnger for the first kilometer and PI.00 per passenger for every 
succeeding kilomcter: and 
(b) P20.00 tbr a special trip with one (l) and (2) passenger(s) for the first 
kilometcr. plus P I .00 pcr passcnger for every succeeding kilometer. 
SEC'|[ON 2. Discount. Senior Citizens and elementary students shall be granted a 
discount of P2.00 on the nrinimum fare while high school and college students will be 
granted a discount ot' P I .00 on the minimum fare. Children aged four (4) to five (5) years 
old shall only pay P3.00 for the minimum fare. 
Discounts shall be grantcd upon presentation ol Senior Citizens Identification Card and 
School Idcntilication (lard. 
SEC1'ION i. In the event that the price of gasoline and petroleum products will be 
decreascd by'l'cn l)osos (P10.00) or higher, the fare will automatically be rolled back to 
P8.00 lbr the llrst kilomcter and P18.00 for the special trip. 
ln thc cvcnt houevcr. that thc price ol'gasoline and petroleum products will again be 
increascd bv Pl0.(X). the lare will automatically be increased to P9.00 for the first 
kilonrctcr and P20.(X) lirr thc special trip. 
SECI'ION 4. A tricyclc lare rate matrix containing the new table of fares and the 
discounts. as ahovc prcscribed shall bc posted permanently inside the tricycle, fronting 
and in lirll r icu ol'lhc passcngcrs. 
SEC'I'ION 5. 't hc ('ity l'ransporlalion Management and Development Office (CTMDO) 
shall cause thc installatiorr of inlbrnrativc billboards containing the new table of fares in 
all ollicially'designatcd tricy'cle tcrrninals within the City. 
SEC'|ION 6. Ordinance No. 130. Series of2008 is hereby repealed accordingly. 
SEC tlON 7. tilfec'rit'ir.r,. l'his Ordinance shall take effect fifteen (15) days after posting

SEC'|[ON 2. Discount. Senior Citizens and elementary students shall be granted a discount of P2.00 on the nrinimum fare while high school and college students will be granted a discount ot' P I .00 on the minimum fare. Children aged four (4) to five (5) years old shall only pay P3.00 for the minimum fare. Discounts shall be grantcd upon presentation ol Senior Citizens Identification Card and School Idcntilication (lard. SEC1'ION i. In the event that the price of gasoline and petroleum products will be decreascd by'l'cn l)osos (P10.00) or higher, the fare will automatically be rolled back to P8.00 lbr the llrst kilomcter and P18.00 for the special trip. ln thc cvcnt houevcr. that thc price ol'gasoline and petroleum products will again be increascd bv Pl0.(X). the lare will automatically be increased to P9.00 for the first kilonrctcr and P20.(X) lirr thc special trip. A tricyclc lare rate matrix containing the new table of fares and the discounts. as ahovc prcscribed shall bc posted permanently inside the tricycle, fronting and in lirll r icu ol'lhc passcngcrs. 't hc ('ity l'ransporlalion Management and Development Office (CTMDO) shall cause thc installatiorr of inlbrnrativc billboards containing the new table of fares in all ollicially'designatcd tricy'cle tcrrninals within the City.
