  2. 2. Women’s History Month <ul><li>Rachel Carson </li></ul><ul><li>May 27, 1907 – April 14, 1964 </li></ul><ul><li>marine biologist and nature writer </li></ul><ul><li>Her book Silent Spring helped begin the modern environmental movement </li></ul>
  3. 3. Women’s History Month <ul><li>Ida Tarbell </li></ul><ul><li>November 5, 1857 – January 6, 1944 </li></ul><ul><li>One of the first investigative journalists </li></ul><ul><li>Her book The History of the Standard Oil Company led to the breakup of the Standard Oil company. </li></ul>
