Freshman Transition Program <ul><li>Purpose: To help incoming freshman students with the transition from middle school to high school by providing information on personal/social, career and academic topics throughout the year via classroom guidance lessons presented by the counseling staff. </li></ul><ul><li>Focus topics: bullying and study skills </li></ul>West Potomac High School – Student Services
  4. 4. Freshman Transitions Program <ul><li>Session #1 (September): all freshman students participated in a guidance lesson on bullying (how to recognize and resolve it) and the importance of active listening </li></ul>West Potomac High School – Student Services

Freshman Transitions Program <ul><li>Meet & Greet (October): all freshman students visited Ms. Johnson in the College & Career Center and met with his/her specific counselor in Student Services. Students kept notes on the visit using Cornell notes an AVID strategy. </li></ul>West Potomac High School – Student Services
