The Google weather API was somewhat of a curious service. It was particularly popular with devs around the world, yet was never officially supported by the giant that is Google.
Developers instead utilised the unofficial feed that was available freely from the iGoogle homepage. So, when iGoogle drew to a close the November of 2014, the previously popularly employed weather API similarly ceased to work.

  3. 3. www.worldweatheronline.com The Google weather API that never was Whilst the Google Weather API has now been confined to the digital graveyard of APIs, it’s worth appreciating just how odd the offering was. This is particularly so given that Google’s only statement upon the service was that it was for ‘gadget use only’. Despite this however developers made use of the API in their droves. Then, one not so sunny day in the August of 2013, the Google Weather API began to provide a patchy and unreliable service. Users started to report weather API errors and over time these script-browser queries became increasingly unreliable. Of course many presumed this to be a an issue due to the API being unofficial, today however we know that Google was intentionally switching its service off.
