SUNAMGANJ COMMUNITY BASED RESOURCE MANAGEMENT PROJECT (SCBRMP) <ul><li>Integrated Poverty Alleviation Project , 29 Million USD by IFAD. </li></ul><ul><li>Components are: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Labor Intensive Infrastructure Development; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Community Based Fisheries Management; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Agriculture and Livestock Development; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Microfinance Services; and </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>People Centered Institution Building. </li></ul></ul>

OVERVIEW OF FRS PROJECT <ul><li>Impact Monitoring of Fisheries Component of the SCBRMP: </li></ul><ul><li>  </li></ul><ul><li>Fish Catch and bio – diversity impact monitoring in 60 waterbodies; </li></ul><ul><li>Developing management models to replicate for sustainable yield and corresponding fishing efforts and for scaling up; </li></ul><ul><li>Livelihood impact analysis of Beel User Group/Community Based Organization members in beel fisheries involved in 25 sample sites </li></ul><ul><li>Disseminate findings to a wider level national and international audience </li></ul>

Objectives of Livelihood Impact Monitoring <ul><li>Impact assessment has considered following objectives for the impact </li></ul><ul><li>monitoring of the participating households in fisheries management: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>To quantify changes in livelihoods among project participants; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To understand the causes behind these livelihood changes; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>To analyze the periodical impact on the BUG/CO members over </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>the project time. </li></ul></ul>

PRIMARY RESULTS: <ul><li>General Demographic Characteristics </li></ul><ul><li>Membership Status of Community Based Organisations (CBO) </li></ul><ul><li>Changes in Education and literacy Level increased by 6% in two years </li></ul><ul><li>Housing Condition includes, wall and roof of dwelling houses area increased by 10 sq meter per household between two studies </li></ul><ul><li>Condition of Household Sanitation, safe drinking water reached to 6% more households. </li></ul>Local Government Engineering Department, SCBRMP

PRIMARY RESULTS: <ul><li>Impact on Household assets e.g. mobile phone use increased 9 to 44% and land ownership remain same </li></ul><ul><li>Household Income changed about 36% and item-wise household Expenditure also increased </li></ul><ul><li>Households access to Finances and utilization of credits </li></ul><ul><li>Changes in women mobility changed positively to office and market places </li></ul><ul><li>Food security Status and impact on consumption </li></ul><ul><li>Institutional Involvement and capacity Building </li></ul>Local Government Engineering Department, SCBRMP

EXPECTED OUTCOMES <ul><li>Result of impact monitoring will be able to recommend a set of improved management approaches to SCBRMP or other similar project/initiatives </li></ul><ul><li>Local level institution or BUG will adopt appropriate fishery management techniques to achieve a sustainable production and biodiversity Level. </li></ul><ul><li>Expected Impacts: </li></ul><ul><li>Local communities will benefited socio-economically which, will change participants livelihoods and nutritional status. </li></ul>
