2. 2. New TV Station

Welcome to my pitch about setting up a new television channel called the “Green Network”.

It is no secret that the planet is in trouble with global warming and problems with the environment.

The Green Network
 3. 3. What are we to do?

We should bring more awareness of certain issues and educate people around the globe so that we can save the environment from destruction.

One example is the pine beetle destroying all the forests.

Another example is that the polar bears do not have enough food to eat.

Most people aren’t even aware of the problems with the bee population and how it will affect our food supply.

 4. 4. Education and Information

So the first step is to create a television station that is dedicated to a greener planet.

You can’t solve the problems we are having unless we know what the problems are.

At present, we have a weather channel, sports channels, etc. so why not a green channel?

 5. 5. Specialists

The format for the show will be hosted by Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Oprah Winfrey and Dr. David Takayoshi Suzuki.

These people are key players in influencing the public and they have the ideal platform because they can cover the financial and business sector, the software and technology world and the top man for the green team.

 6. 6. Getting the Kids Educated

On the Green Network Channel, there will be some shows targeted towards K-12 audience. The Disney Corporation will be involved and they will work with to help educate the kids.

Participation with prizes of winning Disney Cruises for the family will be offered.

 7. 7. Going Green with Tiger

Some of the info-commercials will be conducted by certain celebrities like Tiger Woods. Many sports celebrities have a huge following and we would get them to do a public service announcement of what you can do to live a more “greener” life.

 8. 8. Listen to the Green Lyrics and Tunes

The Green Network will also have the music world involved in free live concerts and testimonials of what they have done to green up their days.

Bono from U2 is a key player. Some of his songs will have lyrics and videos about how green feels and looks like. Example – there is no rain in Africa.

 9. 9. Investors

With Trump, Gates, Oprah and Suzuki at the helm, we have key players that will bring in other key investors. They can convince advertiser (especially companies that supply green products) to invest on an ongoing basis as the network grows.

The network will be cover aspects of problems all over the planet earth.

The Green Network will cover every aspect of environmental issues –Earth, Water, and Air.

 10. 10. David Suzuki

According to Wikipedia, A long time activist to reverse global climate change , Suzuki co-founded the David Suzuki Foundation in 1990, to work "to find ways for society to live in balance with the natural world that sustains us." The Foundation's priorities are: oceans and sustainable fishing , climate change and clean energy , sustainability , and David Suzuki's Nature Challenge. He also served as a director of the Canadian Civil Liberties Association from 1982-1987.

 11. 11. Other Guest Speakers

One of the shows will feature politicians (example – Al Gore) from different countries that can explain what their problems are and what we can do to help. We are not just focusing on North America. This is a global information movement. Education is the key and spreading the word is crucial.

Al Gore
 12. 12. Solutions

The show will provide tips on how you can lead a greener life and make contributions to saving our planet.

We want people to think “what can we do to make sure there will be a planet in the near future”.

 13. 13. The Green Galaxy

We will have green products that people can use and continue to have green commercials.

We will have “green” stories that show case what people are doing to make a difference. Hopefully, this will give others ideas of simple things they can do on a daily business.

 14. 14. More Players join the Green Network

As weekly guest appearances, we would like individuals such as Martha Stewart and Rachel Ray. They will demonstrate how you can cook with a green edge. What do you do with those oily products and how to recycle and even get involved in composting.

 15. 15. How to Eat Green

Dr. Oz will have a green show where he talks about health care and explains how to live a healthier life. Dr. Oz can educate us about the “greener” way to leave when it comes to your overall health. He can definitely point the public in the direction of a green body – example – what to look for when trying to eat healthier.

 16. 16. What Else Can We Do?

In order to reach as many people as we can, we can also team up with radio stations in cities and also as background information on speakers in buses and trains.

We can makes sure we will have advertising in Google and

Since Google owns, we can easily develop Google and Green Shows as well.

 17. 17. Virtual Products

With all the wireless products, we can create podcasts, virtual magazines about “green” topics, the “” website and pitch it to the government so that students can study more of this topic in the school sectors and post secondary institutes.

Businesses should be given tax incentives to increase their green initiatives – example would be “print way less”.

 18. 18. Green your Garbage

Find ways to ensure that you teach your children how to green their garbage. This includes sorting out mail and ensuring that there is less and less junk mail being distributed. Put up signs that say “no unaddressed mail” and take your name off of mailing lists. They always generate more paper and is quite wasteful.

 19. 19. Green Contests

Each day, there will be a shows that will allow contestants to compete for green prizes from green questions?

This allows viewers to have some incentive to learn more about the green life.

 20. 20. What is in it for Companies

On our green network, we will have shows about companies that are going green and how they are doing it.

Going green has many cost benefits and it shows that they care about the future of our planet. Those companies should get recognition and be on the green network.

This will provide excellent advertising and people will be drawn to their products as they get more well known and popular.

 21. 21. Compete to be Green

One show a week we will have 2 companies compete to see which one is more green and how. We will let Donald Trump, Bill Gates, Oprah and David Suzuki be the judges. The winner will get a green product for their company.

This way, organizations can "market" how green they are and use it as a competitive edge.

 22. 22. Make a Difference

Once a week, we will also have contests for the public. This way, getting the viewers involved and excited. Essentially, this is having them supply information and story ideas "for free"

At the end of the day like it or not - it comes down to money $$$ and we want to help people save and make money.

Remember...every little bit makes a collaborative BIG difference...good planets are hard to find....(quote stolen from Larry Berglund...Green Procurement guru).

 23. 23. Larry Berglund, CPP, MBA Executive Summary

“ There has been resurgence in corporate social responsibility (CSR) for a wide variety of reasons. These range from strategic differentiation by adopting “do good practices” to preserving the eco-system in remote geographical areas to introducing environmentally friendly alternative products to the training of indigenous people in the supply chain.

Much of the literature on the subject maintains the view of the advocates who see corporate social responsibility as the mantra for business in this millennium. The arguments against business taking on social responsibility as a part of their corporate agenda is lesser publicized or even referenced. Public interest, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are active and vocal in their charges against “corporations taking over the world.” There are examples of good science and junk science to influence the perceptions of non-believers that CSR is a must.”

 24. 24. More from Larry Berglund
 25. 25. Extra Extra SEE All About It

One of the leading financial experts is Suzy Orman. She has her own tv and books about how to get a help you with financial crisis and build a nest egg for you and your family. Suzy will also have a weekly show and the audience will be able to call in with questions.

 26. 26. Suzy Orman to the Rescue
 27. 27. Dare to be Green

Together we will create a sustainable planet.

We will travel along the journey of the green trail.

You will be green we shall all claim to be ...the friendly green giant..

 28. 28. The Green Network gets $$$

Through commercials and subscribers on the Green Network, the original 5 million that was given to the company as an investment has now provided an excellent Rate of Return.

As the network grows more in popularity, the dollars keep falling from the trees – literally.

 34. 34. Thanks to The Davids

I just wanted to thank our amazing professors – both Davids for giving us so much leeway and encouragement in such a wonderful project. While I was doing this project, I really started to become more and more engaged. The project also made me more aware of my topic and the methodology behind this course. I got so much more out of doing this project than I had expected and this course really exceeded my expectations. Furthermore, it challenged my social consciousness , broadened my horizons, pushed my boundaries, made me think outside of the box and last of all, got me excited about inventions and investments.

Last of all, thanks for creating such an enlightening course and creating a wonderful community of learning.

I am extremely grateful that I chose to take this course.
