You can find everything from your next dentist to a dog groomer (and everything in between) on our site. Contrary to popular belief, Yelp is more than just a restaurant review site. Over 100 million unique visitors, 39 million reviews, not to mention 10 million folks using the handy app Plus research shows that online opinions are important and that Yelpers aren’t dumb or poor…
Let’s talk about what makes Yelp different and how it’s played a part in our continual growth. For starters, we have always focused on making sure we have a strong offline community of users. Yes, there are people from the “interwebs” who sign up to attend official Yelp events not only to meet great local businesses, but they make real-life friendships are formed – sometimes even marriages and babies too! Yelp has a marketing manager on the ground in each major market, curating partnerships, events, promotions, etc. specific to their community’s needs. From the community at-large, our most active contributors are hand-picked to be part of the Yelp Elite Squad, privy to promotions and special events planned just for them! Yelp has differentiated itself by becoming a lifestyle blog of sorts in which people’s offline experience with a business were worth sharing with their Yelp friends who also use the site. The reason we’ve taken this approach is because we didn’t want to be another drive by review site in which people create a free profile, leave one review and never return again. Based on these two factors, Yelp has evolved into a platform for which consumers visit to make their buying decisions based on the reviews they read and the business profiles they land on.
Of course, tastings and cocktail parties at bars or restaurants are popular, but we can definitely think “outside the box” CM’s work with the venue to plan almost anything, large or small! We meet weeks (sometimes months!) in advance to determine what makes your venue/business special and how to make your Yelp event a unique experience Some remarkable events include: Holiday Hangover 2.0 at Big Daddy’s – antique store, Mobile Mashup at car condo space, Beerwalk Empire in Jack London Square
