@MagicRecs is great as it makes MAGICAL RECOMMENDATIONS on whom you should follow on the Twits. Basically, you get one DM a day (max) telling you if a particular person on twitter has just been followed by a bunch of your friends. This is REALLY useful for finding out new news, BEFORE IT HAPPENS.

Sort by recency, brand, category, and agency…

New newsfeed – no more EDGERANK. It is just called the NEWSFEED ALGORITHM. Key things: last actor and story bumping.
Facebook has confirmed that competition and promotion entry mechanics can now officially include liking a post, commenting on a post, having fans post on your page’s timeline or asking people to send your page a private message on Facebook. Some restrictions do remain, however. Facebook still does not allow a competition mechanic to include sharing a post, entering with a hashtag, posting on personal timelines and tagging the brand in a personal status or photo.

These BIG LIST posts, that you see on BuzzFeed and the like, are open to partnerships and sponsorships. Keep that in mind when you’re thinking about the breadth of your campaign work.

Disposable media is what your social media will be. *WHENEVER* you’re creating content, think about the half-life of that content; how long will it be seen for (by an individual)? Quality is of utmost importance, but think about the *quantity* of time that will be spent consuming it. If you’re lucky, your three minute video WILL BE SEEN for THREE MINUTES. Throw that into the myriad of alerts and tweets and adverts and brands that are fighting for attention… you too could be famous for 15 seconds.

We touched upon this earlier: but if you’re thinking social, you NEED to think MOBILE. MOBILE FIRST. How will my content, my ad, my video look on a mobile screen? Then tablet, then – and only then – on the big screen.
GOATS. It’s a JOKE that I’m standing up here saying this BUT Cats, Pandas, and Goats are THE holy trinity of social media content. It is hard to think of any content that could not be made better through addition of one of these three animals. Cats: see IKEA last year. Pandas? See the Ogilvy Cheng Du work. Goats?
