  8. 8. Step 4 Re-string Guitar 1: Re-string the guitar by pulling the strings through the saddle and up the neck. 3: Make sure to wind the tuning machines so the strings are under tension (not too much though). 2: Wrap the strings around the tuning post twice before passing through the hole. Finally, clip the excess strings by cutting close to the tuning post. (this will help your guitar to stay in tune) Photograph by: Wesley Mucik
  9. 9. Step 5 Tuning The Guitar 1: Tune the guitar so that the strings relative in pitch, this is accomplished using either two methods. Method 1: Tune the 6th , 5th , 4th and 3rd strings by fifths then tune the 2nd string to a forth and the 1st string to a fifth. Method 2: Using a guitar tuner, hit each string individually allowing the note to ring out, by using the tuning machines you can either raise or lower the pitch. Most guitar tuners are similar, they offer virtually any type of tuning and have an indicator that swings back and forth like a pendulum. When the note rings in tune than the indicator rests in the center. New strings will go out of tune quickly until the strings stretch out.. There are many free guitar tuning apps online which can be downloaded to your smart phone or other device. The link below is a reliable and free guitar tuner app. GuitarTuna Pictures are courtesy of google images.
